A gorgeous and beautiful place. For the second time this year, my wife and I climbed there, very steep views open from a height. There is an inexhaustible well near the tower, you can always refresh yourself and drink water, but the mechanism of "extraction" of water would need to be upgraded - for some reason the pipe is tied to a bucket, it is not very convenient to get it, it is easier when just a chain. The recommendation to everyone is to put on sneakers for going there, do not kill your feet in slippers and slates and your sandals (for madame). The climb is quite steep in places, especially at the beginning of the journey, but it's worth it, the whole New Athos is in the palm of your hand from above

From the recommendations :
• it is best to allocate at least 5-6 hours to this place, and that's why: From the payment post (the cost is 300 rubles for adults, for children (we have preschoolers) for free - the path is 1200 meters along the road strictly up. Many may not be ready for this. Those who plan to walk all the way from below - another plus, probably the same amount.
• stock up on plenty of water, especially if the sun is scorching (in our case). You can replenish the water balance at the top when you get to the fortress. There is a spring there.
• for motorists, there may not be enough places. Be prepared to park along a rocky cliff or as close to the rocks as possible, as the road is very narrow. If you are an insecure motorist, be prepared for such a turn of events))

An ancient fortress near New Athos. An interesting location with cool views. It is better to take a taxi to the gate. You can walk, but it's very hard. Only good shoes, better not in the heat. From the gate (ticket office) hiking along stone roads. The views are gorgeous. You can climb the tower, collect special water from the cistern, look into the ruined temple. Take the time to visit.

If you are a lover of outdoor activities and hiking, then you definitely need to visit this place.
Be prepared for the fact that the climb will not be very easy because air humidity and temperature play a role.
Take comfortable shoes.

A place for lovers of hiking 😁
The ascent is quite difficult, rocky terrain and height differences for an unprepared person can be a real test..but at the top you will find a well with incredibly delicious water, which will immediately relieve signs of fatigue.
We went up to the roof of the fortress itself, from there there are just incredible views! Being here, one feels some kind of peace and tranquility..
There is also a temple on the top.
I recommend you to visit. It is advisable to go in comfortable shoes and a headdress - we were in May and the sun, to be honest, was baking well. You can take an empty bottle with you and draw water from the well, we did not take this into account, but it may be useful for someone.

One of the most memorable places for me in Abkhazia! Although it was not easy to get there, it was far and hard to walk (it is best to get up at dawn or at sunset, so that it would not be hot), but it was worth it! And the reward was impressive - the vast Abkhazian expanses opening at the top, the lofty Anakopian tower, the ancient Christian temple of the 6th century and the most important thing that surprised me most was an inexhaustible source of clean water, such an unprecedented thing at such a high altitude! We refreshed ourselves , admired and were impressed! I advise everyone to get in there!

We went up to the fortress on foot, from the entrance to the New Athos cave. The climb is sometimes very steep! It takes about 30 minutes to walk to the ticket booth. The road is sometimes open to the sun, sometimes there is a shadow. We paid the money for the entrance, 300 rubles each, (they didn't give out tickets, I wonder where and to whom the money went??) and we bought a brochure about the fortress. Let's go further: the road became a path, then a bumpy path in places, rises in loops to the top of the mountain, to a height of about 350 m. Taking our time and photographing the views, we walked for about 45 minutes. Ruins of walls, remains of fortress towers, views of the coast - there is something to admire! The ruins of the citadel at the top of the mountain are very impressive! There are many beautiful places. The observation deck at the top of the restored tower, climbing the internal stairs, is quite steep. The views are amazing! And on the territory of the citadel there is an inexhaustible well and a chapel, significant places for Orthodox pilgrims. I pulled out a bucket of water, not easy, but quite possible! As a result: an interesting place, I definitely recommend visiting it in good weather!

The road is difficult! High rise. But the place delights with its history. The building is 5-6 centuries old. I can't imagine how at that time it was possible to deliver and build at such a height.

For those who are unsure of their abilities, I advise you to take a taxi (300rubles). It will take you to the ticket office - this is a significant part of the way. The entrance is 200₽. The rest of the climb will have to be overcome independently. In some places, you can take a shortcut and climb directly up the steep ascent, but this is definitely not for everyone. The views are picturesque. You can see not only the fortress itself, but also the remains of an ancient temple (a salted place, many icons, you can buy and put a candle), as well as a spring with water.

I like this place, although it's not the first time there. From the New Athos caves, we drive to the left to the paid parking lot (300r), pay 500r for entry and go up the serpentine for 30-40 minutes, it is important to make it before sunset, otherwise the main tower is closed and you will not get there. The fortress was built as a defensive one according to all the principles of construction at that time. Around the fortress there are stone walls, the main observation tower, barracks with storage, a storehouse and an underground water source. Come in the evening to meet the sunset. If you want to admire the Abkhazian coast from a height, then I strongly advise you to visit this fortress.
It will take about forty minutes to climb the mountain from the parking lot. Of course, it will not be a walk along the embankment, but it is real for any age. There are many places along the way where you can sit and relax in the shade of the pines. In addition, there are no bus tours here, so you don't have to jostle and wait in line to take great photos

It took us 2.5 hours from the Entrance Gate for the whole walk. There was no fatigue as such. You go there by a long road, back in a straight line there is a small rocky path. Entrance is 300 rubles per adult, parking is 200 rubles. Money is being taken for a reason, restoration work is underway, forests are standing. All along the way there, there are destroyed defensive towers, etc. There are two toilets at the very end and in the middle, I will not describe the condition. We went in slates, nothing critical, we took sneakers with us but we never put them on.
It's very beautiful, I advise you in any case, you've seen a lot with children.

Потрясающие виды для тех, кто любит ходить.
Для тех, кто не любит - они же, но после долгого процесса восхождения)
Историческая крепость на вершине горы. Любой гид, водитель маршрутки, или просто местный житель, расскажет вам историю того, как три тысячи защитников крепости оборонялись от двадцатикратно превосходящего воинства, и одержали победу.
Сама крепость находится в умеренно разрушенном состоянии. На 2023 год видны ремонтные работы, уж к добру это или к худу, всё-таки свежеотремонтированные стены сильно выделяются на фоне остальных.
До крепости нужно подниматься - минут полчаса от кафе, куда можно доехать на такси рублей за 300, или час - от новоафонской пещеры. Сам подъём довольно крутой. Вход платный, в наше посещение по 300 рублей с человека. На вершине есть родник (!), где можно попить и набрать воды.
В целом, хорошее место для посещения в дневное время суток, если вы не против полчаса пройтись в гору.

Очень красивое место, вид на горы и море с башни – 360°, просто поражает воображение. Плюс на вершине есть маленький родник и часовня, тоже очень атмосферно.
За вход берут 300 рублей. Подъем не очень долгий и довольно пологий – люди проходят и с маленькими детьми, и с пожилыми родственниками.
Если вы в хорошей форме, можно подняться из города, это тоже интересный и приятный опыт, но требующий некоторой выносливости.

I drove the car further than the parking lot, in order to scout out if there is a specific place further than the fortress. But alas, the road goes downhill there.

I'm not arguing. The entrance is 200₽. Democratically, this money is used to take care of the cultural heritage of Mount Athos. Parking, I don't argue. You have equipped it, paved it - you have the right to charge money for it. But if a person puts a car not in your parking lot, and you're trying to make money for it... guys. You are bureaucrats.

We arrived at the cave by car. We paid for parking. After the cave, we ate in a cafe that is located almost at the exit. It is quite a long walk from the cave to the fortress. We reached the halfway point of the climb by car. And they paid for parking again. Even this part of the climb was enough for me and the children. It's hot, so it's hard enough for children. Going up to the fortress, you can take a plastic bottle with you. In the fortress, you can get cool water from the well. Which is very pleasant in the heat.
If you didn't take it, it's okay. There are buckets near the well from which you can drink.The view of the sea and the surrounding area from the fortress is very beautiful.

Анакопия- интересное историческое место, которое поразило нас своей древностью, масштабностью и открывающимися видами. От парковки забираться на гору не просто, особенно в жару. Лучше идти в кроссовках, так как дорога каменистая. На верху есть колодец с освященной водой, в стенах башен, храма и под сенью деревьев можно найти прохладу, чтобы отдохнуть. Стены православного храма 10в -место паломничества. После посещения крепости интересно посмотреть на ютуб ее историческое значение.
