It's a nice place to visit, the site is interesting, although the real construction almost is not there anymore.

An interesting place. As well as many places that are riddled with history.
The Russian fortress, founded in the 19th century, is located on a significant elevation. Stairs cannot be avoided, but it must be said, adds a certain charm to this monument of architecture and military architecture. The territory is protected, which has a positive effect on the safety and well-grooming of the adjacent footpaths.
The view from the fortress to the city is stunning. This choice of location immediately becomes clear.
The fortress itself is covered with inscriptions on the outside, like there was a ..., or an indication of the city. And it's upsetting, of course.
There is nothing left of the fortress inside, now there is a concert hall with good acoustics. The stage is round, there are seats around the perimeter, and there are balconies.
I didn't find any performances, but it looks unusual.
There is an observation deck nearby. The photos are cool there.
If you read about the origin of the fortress, and its role, visiting this object will be palpably richer perceived.

The black fortress in Gyumri was built of black tuff for defense under Nicholas I, later it was a prison and warehouse. Now it is a concert venue.

A fairly gentle staircase leads to the fortress. A view of Mother Armenia and the whole of Gyumri.
The building is covered and round, there is a stage in the middle, and arched "windows" on all walls. There are stairs to the second floor, but it is impossible to climb. I expected it to be cool, but no, the heating is excellent and the benches do not help much to relax.
There are no cafes and souvenir shops on the streets, and there are also few people in general.

A good place for a walk and photos is a restored fortress, I would like to add an excursion, at the moment there is a dance stage in the center of the room, the territory is not cleaned, they were during snowfalls, it was not very pleasant to walk, therefore 4 points in advance

Why is it 4 ? The repair is not finished.
But in a year it will be the main attraction of Gyumri.
Even now it turns out that some concerts of national music were held there, the acoustics are awesome.
I wish the Armenians a successful completion of the complete reconstruction and opening of the entire museum and cultural complex.
The rating is "4" only for the fact that the reconstruction has not yet been completed.
I hope to attend a concert in a year (by the way, a hall with a thousand seats)👍

You can read about the history of the fortress construction on Wikipedia or other sources without me. Now it is, perhaps, the main attraction of Gyumri. It is located within walking distance (1.5–2 km) from the city center, in good weather I recommend walking the way.
The visit is free of charge. A monument to the Mother of Armenia and a park with a pond are within walking distance.

Everything is neatly repaired, you can sit inside the fortress to feel the whole atmosphere. Words cannot convey what a beautiful view of the city of Gyumri 😍 Mother Armenia stands next to the fortress, a little further away there is a square with a pond where you can walk. It's a pleasure to be there!

It's a very cool place, which is not very convenient to get to, but it's worth it. Next to Mother Armenia, there is a well-restored hall inside, in which performances are apparently staged. A historic building, perfectly preserved to the present day. It is located on a hill, from where you can see the whole city.

I expected to see a fortress inside, not a concert hall. It's a great historical building from the outside, but there's nothing of history inside. Ideally, rename the place so as not to mislead.

Unfortunately, work is underway inside the fortress and there is not much to see there. The scene inside is interestingly decorated. There were some excursions to places where work is underway, but singles are not allowed there.
From the outside there are magnificent views of the city, which is worth visiting this place.

A beautiful round fortress. Unfortunately, there is nothing left of the original condition inside, there is now a tent that was not originally there. It was all built by some Armenian businessman and, as I understand it, is intended for public events. But it could have been worse.
