Amazing place. The only problem is that everyone wants to see it and it can be overcrowded. Still worth it though. Visit my profile on insta and tiktok for more videos and photos.

It was rich in history. The blue and turquoise tiles were amazing. The geometric patterns are very unique. It also has a deep spiritual significance and was a very peaceful atmosphere.

The Shahi-Zinda ensemble is one of the most powerful impressions of my trip to Uzbekistan. This place cannot be described with dry facts — you need to feel it. You climb the stairs and it's like entering a "blue corridor" of mausoleums decorated with incredible majolica and mosaics. Turquoise patterns, the finest carvings, the play of light on the tiles — everything looks like a work of art. The atmosphere here is special — calm, deep, a little mysterious. You realize that you are in a place with a history of several centuries, where the rulers and nobles of past eras rest. For me, Shahi Zinda is not just an attraction, but one that is definitely worth seeing with my own eyes. It is impossible to imagine Samarkand without him 💙

The Shahi Zinda Mausoleum Ensemble is a must—visit place! The atmosphere here is simply incredible, the magnificent rich mosaic, everything is done with amazing detail, you want to touch each one. Turquoise color just attracts the eye. This is a top place for photos and walks, especially at sunset, but it also has its own atmosphere in the early morning. Tip: it's better to come in the morning, when there are fewer tourists, to enjoy the beauty in peace and take good photos. Admission is paid for foreign tourists.

A magnificent ensemble, the tombs of many noble and very noble people are located here. The place is full of legends, intricate patterns, and it is said that the cousin of the Prophet Muhammad is buried here. The name translates as "The Living King." It is an important monument of history and culture, a place of pilgrimage. The ladder at the beginning of the complex symbolizes the path of repentance and prayer.

A little historical background: "The Living Tsar" is one of the most significant and impressive architectural complexes not only in Samarkand, but throughout Central Asia. It is a unique necropolis street, where the centuries-old history and evolution of architectural styles of the region are concentrated. A unique open-air museum demonstrating the development of architecture and decorative art. Only tombstones are located in all objects.

It's a very beautiful place. I liked it here the most in Samarkand. There are two functioning mosques on the territory. All mausoleums are very different, there are both decorated and absolutely ascetic ones. There are a couple of souvenir shops at the end. Entrance is paid. In October 2025 - 50,000 soums for foreigners. If you turn left after climbing the stairs, you will have a good view of the city and the Bibi Khanum Mosque.

To be honest, I liked everything in Samarkand and the green, clean streets, a large number of attractions, and of course the people and the service. Starting with taxi drivers, hotel attendants and canteens, cafes and restaurants. Everyone speaks Russian, and it was very important for us because we had guests from Russia. But a lot more depends, of course, on the guide. We came across a very good and competent Nina guide. In general, I fell in love with Samarkand and I really hope to visit it again.

It's very, very beautiful. A place with its own aura, it is a cemetery for rich people in medieval Samarkand. The architecture is impressive. And by the way, our artist Vereshchagin painted his painting from one of the mausoleums. The Shah-i-Zinda Mausoleum in Samarkand. 1869-1870. Find it online and compare how the mausoleum looks now and in the 19th century).

The oldest necropolis in Samarkand, I recommend you to visit. Beautiful, majestic, with a deep history. There are guided tours. It took Vera a decent amount of time to visit. A place where it is impossible to quickly run "for show" Tourists just need to be a little more respectful of the place. At its core, it is a necropolis where the ashes of family members of the Tamerlane dynasty were buried.

It looks like a historical place, but if you go inside this building, it's very interesting, especially when the guide explains everything. They explain the most subtle details. Inside there is a museum where you can immerse yourself in the history of Uzbekistan.

Mixed feelings, in fact beautiful crypts. The entrance is for tourists and generally paid, although it was possible to pass to the right of the entrance and for free ... the price is not worth it, of course, but there are beautiful views for photos. One-time visit. If you're lucky and the gate is open, you can walk right through the cemetery instead of going back down the stairs. 4th star for the panoramic view of the city.

The past is really felt here. It's like entering the gates of time and getting lost among these mausoleums. Mosaic patterns can be viewed endlessly, turquoise and blue tones seem to put you in a trance.

This is a place that you just need to visit at least once. It is better to visit in the afternoon when the sun has not yet set, but is already moving towards sunset, then you can find the complex in natural light and with beautifully organized lighting, giving the complex an additional fabulous oriental look.

There are many mausoleums in Samarkand, some of which are combined into large necropolises. Shahi Zinda is one of the largest (probably the largest Samarkand necropolis that I have seen). It is located on the slope of Afrasiab, an ancient settlement, the place where Samarkand began. Archaeological work is currently being carried out on the site of Afrasiab, and ruins are even visible in some places, but Afrasiab is not considered an integral monument. All attention is paid to the mausoleums of Shahi Zinda. The name of the complex translates as "the living king". According to legend, the cousin of the Prophet Muhammad, Qussam ibn Abbas, came here to spread Islam among the locals. Pagans attacked him and, according to various legends, he was either pierced by an arrow, or disappeared, or died, but rose again, or was sheltered by a local saint. In any case, the idea of the name was that those who carry faith do not perish, but remain alive forever. An interesting fact is that earlier the pilgrimage here was equated to hajj - a trip to Mecca. Sometimes it may seem that all mausoleums are the same, or at least very similar. Yes, the eye can "blur", as it does, for example, in Suzdal, where there are so many churches that the picture merges into one. But what is very interesting to see here in Shahi Zinda are the individual details of the buildings. Look at the stunning majolica of those distant times. See how harmonious the building looks both inside and out. How amazingly the ceilings are decorated. How beautifully the light shimmers on the blue roofs. Finally, how delightfully the entrance groups are created - these blue gates, which have become the "calling card" of Samarkand. Strangely enough, there were not many tourists here, unlike, for example, the tomb of Amir Timur (Tamerlane). This is probably due to the fact that the complex is very large and tourists "disperse" on its territory. Definitely, you should definitely come here if you decide to visit Samarkand. The complex is not located in the very center, but it is not a very long drive to it, and this visit, of course, will remain in the memory for many years.

We just visited Samarkand, and the first thing we visited was, of course, Shahi Zinda. It's a very beautiful place. Entrance to the territory is paid. The territory is very beautiful, everything is impressive!!! There are many mausoleums, do not be lazy to look into each one.

It is worth visiting to see the beautiful architecture of Timur's time, wonderfully restored by Soviet craftsmen. On the stairs, count the steps on the ascent and descent, having previously set a wish. If it matches, the wish will come true! A very old mosque and the burial place of one of the main companions of the Prophet. A beam and the base of a pre-Mongol minaret have been preserved in the mosque - a great rarity. A Muslim shrine, the dress code must be observed. Admission is for a small fee.
