A very beautiful museum in the center of Istanbul. It is located next to the Top of the Mouthpiece. When you get here, you see the whole atmosphere and history of Istanbul. Istanbul Archaeological Museum (Istanbul Arkeoloji Muzesi) is a complex of three archaeological museums (Archaeological Museum, Museum of the Ancient East and the Tiled Pavilion) in the Eminenyu district of Istanbul, Turkey, next to Gulhane Park and Topkapi Palace. The museum features more than a million exhibits from various eras and cultures. The museum was founded at the end of the 19th century on the initiative of the prominent Turkish painter and archaeologist Osman Hamdi Bey. Part of the exposition was previously kept in the Church of St. Peter the Great. Irina. The construction of the main classical-style building began in 1881 according to the design of the French-Turkish architect Alexander Vollori and was finally completed in 1902. The museum was opened on June 13, 1891. In 1903 and 1907, the right and left wings were added to it, as a result of which the building acquired its current appearance. The building, which is currently occupied by the Museum of the Ancient East, originally housed the School of Fine Arts. It was later redeveloped as a museum, which was opened in 1935. In 1963, the Museum of the Ancient East was closed to the public and, after restoration, was reopened in 1974. The tiled pavilion was erected back in 1472 by order of Sultan Mehmed II the Conqueror and is one of the oldest monuments of Ottoman architecture preserved in Istanbul. From 1885 to 1891, the Imperial Museum was located in its premises, then from 1953 the museum of Turkish and Islamic art was located inside it, and in 1981 the tiled pavilion was attached to the archaeological museum complex.
