The legendary Tashkent Theater. Great productions.
one of the first professional non-state theaters in the history of the former Soviet Union. It was founded in 1976 by director Mark Weil and a group of graduates of the Tashkent Theater and Art Institute.
I recommend it! Only for adults. The number of seats is limited. Cozy and homey. Excellent artists and productions.

You will not understand modern Uzbekistan without visiting Ilkhom. To say that this is a magnificent, lively and very sincere theater is to express my personal opinion, but you have to make up your own. I assure you, you will definitely not regret it.
Considering that this is the brightest star in the sky of modern Uzbek cultural life, but even the sun has spots. Ilkhom has an extremely inconvenient online ticket purchase system. I don't know how such a theater can afford it, but otherwise they are simply divine.

We were guests in the city, for a better understanding of the modern culture of the country, we decided to go to the theater for a youth production. We were completely delighted. The topics are relevant and many of them are specific to Uzbekistan. Some of the topics are borderline, which can be discussed, but very politely and carefully, such as religion, politics, family difficulties, etc., but the actors have this line very finely adjusted, the audience is involved in the discussion, which adds vivacity to the performance. The performance turned out to be very sincere, intimate, sentimental, sincere, thoughtful and left behind very warm impressions. I recommend it and would love to come again

A stunningly culturally filled place! There is an art gallery in the hall, which makes waiting for the performance an even more pleasant event. A cafe where you can drink coffee with dessert, the staff is very pleasant, they speak English and Russian. Well, the corridor to the auditorium is generally like a separate art object! We were at the play "Black Black White Stork". This is a delight, although we are a spoiled spectator)))). If we are going to Tashkent again, we will definitely visit this cultural mecca!

In mid-October 2024, we were with my wife at the play "The Heart of a Dog". Not only did the performance start almost an hour late, but the production turned out to be so primitive and boring, sometimes awkward, that after 15 minutes I wanted to get up and leave. But upbringing did not allow this to be done. A complete disappointment. This is my second time in this theater. The last time was in the year 2008 under the former director. And it was an extravaganza!
And now Ilkhom reminded me of a student theater with a half-educated director. I am very disappointed!

The theater has its own audience. I'm not a fan of their direction, but I do occasionally. An unusual setting and presentation of the thoughts and ideas of the directors.
The actors are great. I really like the music in the performances.
Exhibitions of artists are often held in the lobby.
The price tag, however, has grown recently, it's a bit expensive.

An amazing place! I definitely recommend it to anyone who is tired of "mothballs" productions and cast members. Very talented, mentally, sometimes to tears, piercing. At the same time, it is cozy (there are few places), the effect of presence, the actors often interact with the audience, which adds emotion. In March of this year, it was accidentally difficult to buy tickets to a play based on the 18th century play by Count C. Gozzi about a Ruler who pretended to be a tramp and wanted to know what his subjects were saying about him. The director turned a satirical fairy tale into a farce, which someone accepted with delight, and someone did not understand and left during the break. The acting was certainly talented. The acoustics of the basement hall are so-so, and the performance goes on without microphones - not everything is audible.

Everything is fine, the actors played almost everything for 6. Who is on 6 is on 5. But the idea of the play tomorrow is 15 years behind. Repeating the things you've done, some of them relevant, is like trying to pretend on an old Ford focus that you have a cool car at the expense of beautiful paint and detailing. The car is used!!! I'm not saying that I was waiting for Mayakovsky's ideas, but time has just passed, and "tomorrow" is not a classic in fact, inserts do not pull, and in places they just annoy about the shaman, the ear, the family and Blinovskaya. This has already been experienced.

The theater is young and unusual, performances for amateurs. I like this tower, I go with pleasure. There is only one sad moment...Apparently, our state does not need culture if they want to demolish it and build a hotel on this place. All cultural centers and theaters will be dismantled soon. Everyone is only interested in money and profit. Sell everything, destroy and turn our green city into a desert. It is sad that the Ilkhom Theater has been fighting for its existence for two years.

Chamber Theater in Tashkent! There is an exhibition in the lobby, they managed to get acquainted with the architecture before the performance, the exhibitions are periodically updated. The auditorium is in the basement, small, in the first row you feel like a participant in the performance. Tickets cannot be bought online, I would attribute this to the disadvantages. And of course, everything is sold out a few days before the performance, so it's better to come to the theater box office in advance for tickets. We watched "White White Black Stork" - a pretty authentic performance

Lately, the truth has become annoying for viewers with phones, coffee and VIPs in the hall. Although there are signs everywhere that drinks cannot be brought into the hall, the request to turn off the phones is announced several times, people do not respond, and the staff does not stop.

We are relocants. Very spoiled theatergoers from St. Petersburg. For the first time, a child was brought here for the "Nutcracker" (Princess Pirlipat). To be honest, I did not expect such a high level of theatrical art in Uzbekistan. Absolute delight! Everyone has: The baby, mom and dad! The production is modern, resonating in the soul of both adults and children. I was most impressed by the ability to create an image out of nothing - from two plates - a knight, from a bunch of parsley - a forest, from a mitten - a rat. And I also admired the way the main actor communicates with the children's audience, which is included in the action. Communication and inclusion of the audience in the performance will happen by itself. Many thanks to the theater for the amazing production!
