If this is some kind of hidden idea of the architects, I do not know.

Pearl mining was the main source of income in the Emirates in those years. The divers at the Dubai Mall Waterfall symbolize the country's history. Each waterfall is surrounded by palm trees, resembling an oasis. For Arabs, the oasis is invariably associated with well-being.
