In the USSR, this square was called Lenin Square. Very beautiful buildings made of pink tuff, richly decorated with stone carvings (Armenians are great masters in this area). The square makes a strong impression and if you go to Yerevan, then this is a must-visit place. There are many excellent boutiques, cafes and restaurants near the square. A great place, lots of fountains, trees, very clean and a special feature fountains with delicious drinking water, in the summer a very important thing!

If you haven't been to Republic Square, then you haven't been to Armenia. I recommend going there in the evening when the singing fountains are working. The lighting of the buildings is done perfectly, all the buildings on the square form a single ensemble. The feeling of celebration and admiration is present among the walkers. Yes, maybe the area is not large, the buildings are not monumental, there is no more than Batumi on the embankment, but all together it is very harmonious.
