Its name is Gur-e Amir. The great commander and the legendary lion of history, Amir Timur, rests here. Contrary to popular belief, his tomb is not the large one but the smaller, black one. Around him, his sons and close relatives are also buried. The interior and exterior of the mausoleum are like a separate paradise. It’s truly a miraculous place. This is a must-see masterpiece. I highly recommend it.

"The Tomb of the Emir." Initially, the complex consisted of a khanqah and a madrasah for the children of the Samarkand nobility. But after the death of his beloved grandson, Amir Timur ordered the construction of the mausoleum to begin. He did not live to see the construction completed, but it was this place that became the burial place of Tamerlane and his descendants. The tombstone of Amir Timur is made of a single piece of jade, it can be seen in the main hall. But the grave itself is located below, tourists are not allowed there. Entrance to the complex is paid, you can take a guided tour inside, and in a short time you will be told and shown everything.

the burial place of Tamerlane. a magnificent building, the guides tell the story well and a piece of life or an interesting fact. on the back side there is a map of land conquest, exploration and just travel. just like in all mausoleums, there is an unnecessary bazaar, which it is desirable to remove from the territory.

Majestic, large-scale and very beautiful! I've wanted to be in this place for a long time. The whole complex impresses the imagination with its grandeur, steeped in the history of the time of Tamerlane. Even in our time, looking at his tomb, the feeling of greatness and power of the ruler and commander is fully present. It's fascinating and impressive! I recommend visiting, and especially before visiting, to read about it, at least briefly.

For history lovers, fans of the military genius of the great conqueror Emir Timur will remember this place for the rest of their lives. Inside the mausoleum, there is a special peace and tranquility that is felt only in the old "prayer" temples, churches, mosques, cathedrals, etc. I just want to sit inside on a bench for 15 minutes and enjoy this rare and very pleasant feeling of peace and comprehensive peace. A vox ticket costs 150 thousand Uzbek rubles, which is somewhere in the region of 500 Russian rubles.Tickets are sold on the left in the window, there is always a small queue, you will see it. At the entrance to the arch, the controller will offer you a tour guide who will order everything for a cheap price. (it's really not dorgo there, so you can take it) You can take photos inside and take videos, too, the guards treat tourists with understanding and do not scold for this, although the signs indicate that photo and video shooting are prohibited. Since this is not Disney Land, the trists are mostly adults, so everyone is polite and courteous to each other and does not behave loudly, with rare exceptions. IMPORTANT (!): 1-Take care of local money early because the exchange rate at the airport is absolutely extortionate at the time of the official exchange rate of 1:148 at the airport, I was exchanged for 1:95. but since I needed to take a taxi, I had nowhere to go. I had to change. 2-A taxi around the city is cheap, but do not order it from the "rooks" who are very intrusive in offering their services at the airport, literally without giving passage and almost pulling your hands with an offer to take you somewhere. Use yandex.go and it will be much cheaper. 3-There are no McDonalds, KFC Burgers, or other similar outlets with familiar food in the country. The local food is very greasy and thick. 4-Buy goods or products STRICTLY only where there is a price tag! Because when local sellers see that you are a tourist, they will consider everything at least 2 times more expensive for you. Such things are not fraud and dishonesty for local shopkeepers, but "The ability to trade well"

The portal of the Gur-Emir mausoleum is one of the most impressive elements of this architectural complex. Its grandeur and sophistication immediately attract attention and leave no one indifferent. The portal is decorated with numerous ornaments and calligraphic inscriptions made in the traditional Islamic style, which symbolizes the high skill of the architects of that era. 🌟 In the center of the portal there is an arch that leads to the mausoleum itself, and is decorated with exquisite geometric patterns and images of plants. The colors and textures used for the decoration enhance the feeling of nobility and sanctity of this place. Deep blue and turquoise colors combined with gold details create an atmosphere of solemnity and grandeur. 🎨 The portal of the Gur-Emir mausoleum is not only the entrance to the tomb itself, but also a symbol of the transition from the earthly to the spiritual. He embodies the grandeur of the Timurid era and its cultural heritage. 🌍 For those who want to learn more about this amazing monument, we offer guided tours with experienced guides. We will tell you in detail about the significance of the portal, its architectural features and its role in the history of Samarkand. Let us make your trip to these historical places unforgettable! ✨

The first building that greets you when visiting the Gur-Emir mausoleum. Nicely. Next to the mausoleum there were madrasahs and khanaka (not preserved). Burials of famous personalities were also held there, but not Temurids, now their numerous tombstones stand near the portal on the remains of these structures.

The splendor of Islamic religious architecture. A two - arched portal decorated with beautiful stalactites . Unfortunately, in spring and autumn, after 9 a.m., a very solid queue forms to get inside. I recommend coming early or in the evening.

Gur Emir is the mausoleum of Tamerlane, as well as his mentor Mir Sayyid Barak. The Samarkand mausoleum "Gur-Emir" is considered the family tomb of the Timurids, that is, the descendants of Amir Temur. Tamerlane was one of the outstanding generals of Central Asia, was known not only for his military campaigns, but also for the construction of monumental structures.

A good complex, take a guide, he will tell you everything, but there is a moment when you pass behind the memorial they will tell you there are tunnels of old Svmarkand in the basement, and there is a store and a theatrical program and you will buy something many times more expensive than on the street, be fooled by it)))

A very beautiful and fascinating and majestic mausoleum of Samarkand. There are a lot of elements made of gold leaf and semi-precious stones inside. I want to consider each element. The area around the mausoleum is clean, well-groomed.

Our acquaintance with the ancient history of Samarkand began from this place. That's great! For those who come in hot weather, I recommend choosing points for shooting while standing in the shade of trees (the above picture was taken from one of the shady areas, and the second green shady place is visible outside the gate in the same picture). Filming inside the mausoleum is quite difficult due to the semi-darkness, so I recommend keeping an eye on the white balance: very delicate colors of internal ornaments combined with shadows are difficult to transfer to photos, especially "stalactites". But if they do, you won't regret it.

The centuries-old history... at the very least discovered something new in the ensemble. As it turned out, the central dome has 63 "folds", which is equal to the number of years of the Prophet Muhammad's life.

Gur Emir is now covered in forests, repair work is underway. Therefore, it was not admired externally, but inside it is interesting to look at Tamerlane's mausoleum. Near the entrance to the complex there is a well, which at that time was filled with pomegranate juice for soldiers returning from campaigns.
