Lovely, but I asked for an English tour guide as excursions were advertised at 150,000. The men at the front told me there weren't any, only to follow me in and then offer me a tour for cash payment. I am not interested in being duped by informal tour guides.

The mausoleum staff and workers are rude and are only interested in milking tourists for money. Especially, the guy in white cap right at the entrance, he harassed us by asking where you come from. The whole experince was ruined by rude staff who want to charge tourists even for taking photos. A complete nonsense. Uzbekistan Tourism Authorities as well as Samarkand Tourism committee shall hire competent and polite people to work at such an important and symbolic place.

Timur's burial is enough to make the Gur-Emir complex one of the most important monuments of Samarkand, a must-visit for all who come to this city. But besides that, Gur-Emir is also a wonderful architectural monument, in excellent condition after restoration. There are a lot of visitors, so if you want to explore everything calmly, set aside at least an hour for a visit.

It's a very beautiful place. A must-visit in Samarkand. I liked it even more than Registan. Admission is 75,000 soums for adults (about 500 rubles). Do not spare the guide (extra charge). Beautiful, atmospheric, majestic. It is part of the classic Samarkand triangle -

Architectural landmark No. 1 of Samarkand, so to speak. Every stone, every mosaic is steeped in history. Before visiting, I recommend that you look through the reference books. The special spatial energy is impressive, the coolness in the heat without air conditioners. I am grateful to the tour guides.

All the main attractions of Samarkand are similar for tourists, they are made in the same style, color scheme, and architecturally similar: turquoise domes, courtyards, and a mausoleum are no exception. Tamerlane's grave is just a tombstone in the circle of other tombstones of his relatives, without reading the description, you will not immediately understand. There is not enough description of the exposition, history, it is better to go informationally prepared. Admission is paid, guided tours are offered on site. I'm not sure if they are qualified guides, but I may be mistaken. Nearby there is a photo zone with the inscription "♥️Samarkand" and a view of the mausoleum

A good guide is worth its weight in gold, and if he also suggests favorable camera angles and at the same time takes great pictures, he is simply priceless! Sodikjon began to overload information very vigorously, and after only twenty minutes I felt that a new portion of facts had stopped being absorbed - I was just "goofing off" on historical details. The tour was accompanied by a discussion of national traditions and various stories, sometimes even personal ones. This format is great for a guided tour, but it's important to ask questions and show keen interest.

Must-see! The beauty is impossible, the strongest energy, we took an excursion, it was very informative. Of course, there are a lot of people, but it doesn't bother. A friend recommended coming in the evening, beautiful lighting, no one hurries or interferes.

One of the key historical places of the city! A large number of tourists. Entrance is paid, 75,000 per person. You can also order and pay for the services of a guide at the ticket office. Outside the territory, on the approach to the mausoleum, how many frequent guides offered their services. There is a guard at the entrance who sees them from afar that you have bought a ticket, for this reason you may not ask him at the entrance. It was about 1 p.m. on a weekday. There were a lot of visitors inside, near the graves, and there were several groups of schoolchildren.

This place is sacred to every Samaritan, because the Great Ruler of a vast empire, the wisest commander Tamerlane, found his last refuge and rest here! And he made his beloved city, the Pearl of the East, the MOST BEAUTIFUL CITY of SAMARKAND, the heart of this empire!!! The ashes of his beloved grandson, the greatest scientist, astronomer and ruler of Samarkand, Ulugbek, also rest here! This mausoleum became a tomb for other representatives of the Timurid dynasty! That is why this place is a place of pilgrimage for tourists! There is a special atmosphere here! Passing under the arches of the azure dome, you enter a cozy courtyard. To the right and left of the main entrance are the foundations and low walls of the Mausoleum's side galleries, which have not survived to this day. But this gives Gur-Emir a special charm of antiquity. It is quiet and cool inside the tomb. White, black and pink marble add solemnity and grandeur to this place! People here are usually silent or, if they do, they speak in low voices, because everyone is seized with an involuntary thrill from coming into contact with ancient and great history! Everything is clear there without words. But if you want to learn more, you can book a tour right here, or download the app and listen to the audio guide. From the quiet courtyard, you can walk up the steps of ancient masonry to small cozy shops with unique souvenirs! Along with Registan, Gur-Emir is the calling card of Samarkand! There is no such beauty anywhere else!!!! Come to Samarkand! Khush kelibsiz! Welcome!

Of course, it is worth visiting the burial place of such an odious ruler, a warrior about whom incredible legends are composed. A local guide gave us a very informative tour of the mausoleum, revealing the identity of Amir Timur not only as a commander and conqueror of worlds, but also just a man.

Tamerlane's Mausoleum, a building with a beautiful blue dome and magnificent interior decoration in gold and mosaics. Inside is the grave of the emir himself, his relatives and his teacher. If you have already reached Samarkand, then you should definitely visit the mausoleum. But the toilet on the territory of the mausoleum is paid, Tamerlane would not approve of this!

Gur Emir is not just a historical monument, it is a place of incredible power and atmosphere. It's a place where history comes to life. It is not as bright and festive as Registan, but more profound and philosophical. This is one of those attractions worth going to Samarkand for.

A very impressive place. But the entrance is 75,000 from adults. I think it's expensive for a 5-10 minute inspection. There is an entrance to the catacomb behind the mausoleum, but there is a souvenir shop, the owner immediately offers to tell the story, tells it sooooo quickly, I forgot after 2 minutes, because the information was not delayed and then begins to offer goods, 1 magnet on camel skin 300 thousand, supposedly handmade.

Along with Registan, it is one of the most important sights of Samarkand, a must-see, admire and photograph. The tomb of Amir Temur (Tamerlane), his sons and grandson Ulugbek. A majestic dome with 64 sides, a beautifully decorated portal, and beautiful minarets. You can admire and admire the Gur Emir Mausoleum for hours!

The real pearl of Samarkand! Gur Emir is not just an architectural monument, but a place with an amazing atmosphere and energy. The great commander Tamerlane rests here, and a sense of grandeur can be felt in literally every element: from the imposing dome to the finest patterns on the walls. I advise you to come in the morning — there are fewer tourists and the light falls especially beautifully on the turquoise domes. It's very quiet inside, I want to linger, just stand and listen to the silence. Be sure to take a guided tour or read about the history in advance — then the impressions will be even stronger. This place should definitely be included in the route around Samarkand. If you are interested in history or just love beautiful and atmospheric locations, you are welcome here!

The Gur and Emir Mosque - the mausoleum of Tamerlane (Amir Timur), his mentor Mir Sayyid Barak, and some members of Timur's family - is a masterpiece of Persian architecture of those times. Huge slabs of onyx decorate the tombstones, the drawings on the walls shimmer with gold, intertwined with blue colors and Arabic script. Unfortunately, the building has not been completely preserved to our time. Several gates have been lost forever, but inside the structure you can see the layout of the original appearance of the complex. There are many legends around Timur's grave related to the "Spirit of Tamerlane", which adds to the attractiveness of the place.

There are many necropolises in Samarkand, many burials of famous people of the past. AI says that this is because the monuments were built for centuries, and no one tried to destroy the crypts during the wars. Gur-Emir is the tomb of Tamerlane and his family members. Interestingly, Tamerlane himself wanted to be buried in his hometown, but his grandson decided otherwise. Although Tamerlane himself initiated the construction, the first mausoleum was originally built for his grandson, and when Tamerlane died, Gur-Emir was not completed and the funeral was held in the unfinished mausoleum. It is with Gur-Emir that the legend of the "spirit of Tamerlane" is connected. It was here that his grave was opened in June 1941. This is how the legend arose that it was for this reason that the Great Patriotic War began. Gur Emir is an amazing monument of Persian architecture - majolica, gold, blue paint, mosaics, semiprecious stones - all this is in the design of the mausoleum. The complex is located in the very center of the city, 15 minutes from Registan. Of course, this is a must-visit place for all tourists of Samarkand.

A stunningly beautiful place, absolutely worth a visit. It is interesting both from a cultural and historical, as well as from an aesthetic point of view. There is a wonderful guide who answers all the questions and really understands what he is talking about. The price for the visit and for the tour is absolutely adequate, there are no queues, there are very few people if they did not bring a bus of tourists. I was very impressed with this place and left only positive emotions.

The beautiful mausoleum where Amir Timur and his two sons, grandson, and teacher are buried. Everything is preserved as much as possible in its original form. You can see their tombstones inside. And the crypt itself is closed from all rooms. Entrance to the mausoleum is by ticket.

Oooooh what a place this is! Being in Samarkand, it is necessary to visit it. The architecture is very beautiful, the view from the inside is simply gorgeous, the gold wall decoration is simply impressive. We took a paid guide , because there is no reason to walk and look at the walls without understanding anything , too , the impressions are not unambiguous - I tried to drive more through the outlets and talk about the uniqueness of the works of masters who sell souvenirs and paintings . Very little was learned from him about the Mausoleum and Tamerlane himself . You definitely need a guide, but I don't know how anyone will be lucky.

The architecture is amazing, but the guides who work there tell a false and made-up story about Timur, look at the map they drew, they consider the entire territory of the Persian Empire as the Timur Empire, which is not written anywhere in any book in the world except Uzbek books. Every street and every historical place has a Persian name.
