We decided to celebrate our birthday at the Alex restaurant at the hotel of the same name in Gagra. We booked a table in advance for May 1 and informed the administrator about the reason for the visit — we were promised a compliment from the institution. Unfortunately, the impressions of the dinner turned out to be extremely negative. We ordered two seasonal signature dishes — duck and goose, each costing 1,000 rubles. The wait for serving was 40 minutes, and the dishes were served cold. The quality of the food was disappointing: complete absence of salt and spices; the meat was tough, rubbery in taste, and practically chewable. When we made our comments to the administrator, the reaction was discouraging. We were told that we were the first to complain, and that "everyone is eating." The complaint was allegedly forwarded to the kitchen, but the tone and manner of the administrator's communication left an extremely unpleasant impression. Of the advantages, I can only mention the interior and location — the restaurant is really located in a beautiful location at the hotel. But the service and the quality of the dishes do not meet either expectations or the price. It's a pity that the birthday was overshadowed by such a dinner. I cannot recommend this place for special occasions and will look for other options in Gagra in the future. There was no compliment or apology from the restaurant.

We celebrated the 15th anniversary of the Alex Hotel in the restaurant. The dishes are not bad, the child liked the pizza. There was live music and a program. Cocktail Aperol is further from the original, of course, but I do not lower the score for this.
