The Arc de Triomphe in Paris is a monument in the 8th arrondissement of the city on Charles de Gaulle Square (Stars). It was built in 1806-1836 by architect Jean-Francois Chalgren. The arch was designed by order of Napoleon Bonaparte to commemorate the victories of his "Great Army". The composition of the single-span Triumphal Arch of Titus in the Roman Forum was taken as a basis. Arch dimensions: height — 49.51 m, width — 44.82 m, arch height — 29.19 m. In the corners above the arched opening are bas-reliefs by sculptor Jean—Jacques Pradier depicting winged maidens blowing a fanfare, allegories of glory.
