A beautiful palace and an art gallery, where a whole hall is dedicated to Aivazovsky's paintings. The price is 1200 liras, in rubles 2200. Of course, I would like it cheaper. But the locals are still being taken care of. In the Yildiz Palace, entrance by museum card is 50 liras, without a card 150 liras for the local population, 850 for tourists!!!!

The residences of the Turkish sultans since the 19th century. There is nothing special inside the suite of guest and residential premises, it resembles the residences of our tsars, but the main state hall was sooo impressive. He's the only one worth visiting this palace for. Do not forget to take an audio guide at the entrance, it is included in the price of the entrance ticket. In front of the palace there is a picturesque small park with flower beds and fountains.

Of course, the palace itself is interesting, you can visit it once, but the price tag for entry for foreigners is simply horse-drawn. In May 2024, it cost 500₽ per person, imagine a family of 3-4 people, you have to pay 15-20k just for a ticket. Just for comparison, a plane ticket from Istanbul to Marmaris cost 1,200 per person.
The palace is definitely not worth the money.

The ticket price includes all museums and castles, costing 3.5 thousand per person. If it's enough for you to walk around the territory, you can walk around the palace from the left side, from the side of the road, to the art gallery and buy an entrance ticket there for 300 rubles per person and see the same Dolmabahce gate)

Walk another two hundred meters along the wall and enter the Museum of Palace Collections, the queues are small here and you can safely buy a shared ticket to the palace and harem without a long queue. In May, the cost was a little more than a thousand lire per person, an audio guide only with a pledge of documents. In general, a terrible option, in my opinion, is to leave your documents. Moreover, the inspection can be carried out without a guide, then go out and read who lived here and so on. In general, after the palaces of Europe, it is modest here, yes, the ceilings and walls are interestingly decorated in the halls, there are many different chairs. Everyone writes about it. Well, plus a beautiful gate and fence, a view of the Bosphorus. Photos at the gate can also be taken on the territory of the museum with paintings, there is a much smaller queue for the view. In general, such an average entertainment, it's better to just walk around the European part.

One of the palaces that are the hallmark of Istanbul and a must-visit! You will get especially vivid emotions on a fine day, when the sun will play in front of your eyes in the waters of the Bosphorus, where several lace gates go out! And in the art gallery, fans of Aivazovsky will be able to admire a small exposition of worthy paintings by the artist. I also want to note that despite the more European style of architecture, this is still an oriental palace with all its subtleties and rules. Comparison with Russian palaces is incorrect. The only point is that I would like more attention to be paid to the restoration of the palace complex.

We stood in line for a long time in the heat, as 2 out of 5 ticket offices were open, the ticket price was 650 liras per person, you could go through the express ticket office without queuing, but then the ticket price would be 1000 liras, there is a cafe on the territory where you can have a snack.

Dolmabahce Palace - for some reason, everyone compares it with other palaces and sights. What for? Each palace is beautiful in its own way.
Because the tour was bought, the ticket to the palace had already been paid, they did not stay in queues anywhere, the guide was wonderful, talked with sincere love about the Palace and the Harem, it was interesting to learn about the Museum of Painting and paintings by Aivazovsky.
There is a beautiful garden with fountains and twelve decorated gates. Indeed, the gate to the Bosphorus. In one word - "Turkish Versailles"!

The most beautiful place , which is necessary for the room. The summer residence of the Turkish sultans, built by the Armenian Balyan. The same family built many magnificent buildings in Istanbul, including Chiragan Palace and Ortakey. A huge well-groomed beautiful territory and the palace itself is just a miracle! It's a pity that only 9 photos can be uploaded here. For some reason, you can't take pictures inside. But I took pictures. The ticket is 1050 liras. The payment was made with a GPB Union Pay card.

Dolmabahce Palace (Dolmabahçe sarayı) on the European side of the Bosphorus in Istanbul, in the Besiktas district Dolmabahce Palace is one of the business cards of Istanbul. The openwork building with rich interiors and a well-kept garden in its architectural design resembles the luxurious palaces of European monarchs. Inside the palace itself, shooting is strictly prohibited, and they monitor it very carefully, but I still snatched my couple of shots of luxury
In addition to the magnificent interior decoration of the palace, I want to note the beautiful view of the Bosphorus through the openwork gates, which complements the overall picture of the place like a cherry on the cake. In addition, not far from the crystal pavilion there is a poultry house with important well-fed royal peacocks, where it was also interesting to look.
After bypassing the main palace, follow the park to the end of the building and to the left : There's a Harem there. And in the palace park on the very shore there is a great cafe where I enjoyed a cup of coffee with dessert. If some of the places in Istanbul can still be sacrificed due to limited time, then Dolmabahce Palace is definitely worth a visit!
PS : the cost of visiting the main part of the palace + harem 650 lira (the museum card is not valid here!). Opening hours: from 9:00 to 16:00 (except Mon and Thu). The most convenient time to visit is before lunch. Reserve 3 hours for this place, no less.
Audi guide for free, BE SURE to take it! Deposit: documents, $ 100, or 2000 liras, at the exit you return the Audi guide, you have money / documents. 😁

Turkish Versailles, that's what they like to call Dolmabahce Palace in Istanbul, where the last sultans of the Ottoman Empire lived. It is located on the coast of the Bosphorus at the junction of Kabatash and Besiktas districts. A couple of centuries ago, there were waters of the bay in this place, which turned into a swamp, then they were dried and covered with earth. And in 1842, by order of Abdul-Majid, the construction of the palace complex began, and the Armenian architect Karapet Balyan undertook to realize the sultan's dream.
The palace is divided into male and female parts. After examining one part, you will need to leave the palace, go around it and enter the second entrance.
As you enter the palace itself, you will see a lot of interesting things - ceilings painted by great artists of Italy and France, stairs with crystal railings,
marble columns, ceilings and walls sparkling with gold, elegant French furniture and much more. In total, Dolmabahce has 285 rooms, 43 salons, 68 restrooms, and 6 hamams.
I spent my last days here and
On November 10, 1938, Mustafa Kemal Ataturk, the first president of Turkey, died. The palace was his official residence in Istanbul. You can learn more about this from the tour.
In addition to the main part of the palace, you can walk through its territory to the art gallery, which houses a worthy collection of paintings by world-renowned artists, including works by I. Aivazovsky (40 incredible works commissioned by the padishah).
In March 2025, entrance tickets for three people with an audio guide and visits to all museums on the territory cost 4,500 TL. The area is very beautiful, you will take a lot of interesting photos, there are several cafes, one near the entrance to the women's section, the other near the entrance of the art gallery, the prices are affordable. This time, the clock museum was not working, and repairs are underway everywhere in the main part of the palace, but this did not prevent us from enjoying walking in the palace again.
In fact, if you are tired of the noise of the city, you can escape to the Princes' Islands or go to Dolmabahce, where you will really relax.
It is better to arrive an hour after the opening, and purchase tickets in advance, thereby saving yourself from standing in line.
Feel free to put at least 3-4 hours on this walk.
Photos on the territory are allowed, inside the palace is prohibited, but with a large request for security, some rooms were still able to get into the frame.

Ticket prices are horse-drawn, however, as in all local museums. Set aside a full day in Dolmabakhche: three large buildings, it's physically difficult to get around everything. The Sultan's palace is gorgeous, there are no words, look at the photos on the Internet and you will understand. The art gallery is a must-visit, there are about a dozen paintings by Aivazovsky alone. But you can skip the harem, there are no beautiful concubines there for a long time, and you will see enough chairs and sofas in the main palace.

Dolmabakhche Palace (bulk garden) in the Baroque style was built in 1842-1853, the architects were the Armenian family of Balyans, after the fall of the monarchy Kemal Ataturk lived and worked here. The majestic building is located right on the shore of the Bosphorus, where several gates with carved lattices open. The buildings are surrounded by walls on all sides, the front gates are decorated with bas-reliefs and look very large! Tickets are expensive, 650 lire / 1 ticket. The price includes a visit to the main palace and the picture gallery, entrance to the harem is paid separately (+90lir). The interiors are in the Turkish style, luxurious and heavy, but not to compare with the richness of the Hermitage! It is forbidden to take photos and videos, but there is not much to shoot, the palaces of St. Petersburg and the region are much more interesting in terms of architecture, interiors, and art collections. Inside there is a small garden with fountains, there is a cafe. There were no queues, they came on weekdays. Security guards are watching in the hall with Aivazovsky:) so that valuable canvases are not removed!
