The Palace of Queen Darejan (also known as the Sachino Palace) is one of the famous Georgian landmarks. It was built in 1789 by order of King Irakli II of Kartli-Kakheti for his wife, Queen Darejan. It is made in a fortress style to protect against enemy attacks. It was built on the ruins of a medieval fortress. The masonry is mixed — made from a mixture of square-shaped bricks and cobblestones. At the beginning of the 20th century, one of the monastery's abbots, Father Eugene, executed hand—painted paintings in the Renaissance style. In addition to the main building, the palace complex also includes two temples, erected in 1789 in honor of St. Irakli and St. Daria. Now the convent of the Transfiguration of God is located on the territory of the palace. Since 2003, the monastery has operated a House of Mercy, which includes a hospice, a charity canteen, a training department for nurses, and an outpatient clinic for residents in difficult situations. The main decoration of the palace is an elegant circular observation deck, which now offers views of the city, and in the old days it served as a balcony.

I was at the restoration that year, but we couldn't get in. Gestalt is closed this year :) We didn't get inside, but we went out onto this beautiful balcony and admired the city.

A small preserved part of the queen's residence. Great views of the city!
