April 24
Negosh Mausoleum 🏛️🇲🇪 Last time we were here, we couldn't get inside. And no wonder - the Mausoleum is open from May 1 to October 31. In winter, it is closed, as the mountain and serpentine on Lovchen are covered with 5-6-meter snow. ❄️ This time, at the end of April, we were lucky enough to get through. Now, what is this place? The Negos Mausoleum is the tomb of the last spiritual ruler of Montenegro, Metropolitan Peter II Petrovich Negos, located on the top of Mount Lovcen in the Lovcen National Park. In 1845, he expressed a desire to be buried in the chapel he founded on Mount Lovcen. But after his death in 1851, fearing a possible attack on the grave of the Turkish Pasha Skadar, the ruler decided to bury him in the Cetinje monastery. On August 26, 1855, Negosh's remains were transferred to Lovchen. To climb to the mausoleum, you need to climb 461 steps from the parking lot to the top of the mountain. The observation deck can only be accessed through the mausoleum, there is no other approach to it. The entrance to the mausoleum is decorated with two marble statues depicting Montenegrin women in national costumes. Inside there is a 28-ton statue of Peter II Petrovich-Negosh. The roof of the mausoleum is covered with gold. The sarcophagus of the ruler is located on the lower floor of the mausoleum. After leaving the mausoleum, visitors enter the trail along the mountain range, which leads to a circular observation deck. It offers views of most of Montenegro and the Adriatic coast, if you look in different directions. 🗺️ #njegosmausoleum #montenegro #tivat #kotor #herzegnovi

Peter Negosh Mausoleum is located in Lovcen National Park on a high mountain. You need to go up to it through a tunnel with steps. But the view that opens from above is simply incomparable.

We traveled from Budva 2 times. The first time was unlucky, there was heavy fog. The weather was favorable for the second time. First we stopped in Cetinje. Then we went up to Mount Lovcen by car to the highest parking lot. And go up the steps, there are 400 of them ( according to ннф.ІТ -461).It doesn't matter how much, but we have to walk to the national hero of the country - the former ruler, philosopher, poet... Many rise through fatigue, and many through pain. Finally, we are in front of the entrance to the sarcophagus.Negosha's sculpture is impressive: a polished, handsome giant - 28 tons!!! How was she brought here!? The view from the observation deck is fantastic, the whole of Montenegro is in front of you.. Mount Lovcen and the Negosi Monument are must-see places if you come to Montenegro.
