The same view from Lermontov's Mtsyri. An ancient monastery on the top of a mountain where heaven meets earth. The view of Mtskheta is the best photo frame. One of the main symbols of Georgia. It is located on a high mountain opposite Mtskheta. The view of the confluence of two rivers and the city is incredibly beautiful. The church itself is very ascetic and powerful. One can feel its antiquity and grandeur. Be sure to walk around it along the path — the views from each side are amazing. The strongest impression of the trip! I advise you to combine it with a visit to Svetitskhoveli.

Jvari Temple is a unique opportunity to touch the rich history and culture of our beautiful Georgia. The architecture of the temple is simple and minimalistic, which is memorable and haunting. Inside there is an indescribable atmosphere and a feeling of tranquility and spirituality, the place where you and God are. The view is amazing, as Lermontov wrote: "Where they merge, they make noise.", Hugging like two sisters, Streams of Aragva and Chickens, There was a monastery..." Be sure to visit this place if you are in Tbilisi.

The temple of the first half of the 7th century. It is located on the top of a mountain at the confluence of the Kura and Aragvi Rivers near Mtskheta, where, according to historical sources, the Holy Equal—to-the-Apostles Nina erected a cross. The setting of Lermontov's poem "Mtsyri".

The unique church and monastery of Jvari. Georgia's first World Heritage Site. Jvari, along with the neighboring Zedazensky Monastery, is considered the setting of Lermontov's poem "Mtsyri". It offers a fantastic view of Mtskheta and the confluence of the Kura and Aragvi rivers.

We traveled in January 2025. A beautiful place and a majestic temple, even the shades of cinnamon in nature, instead of green, do not detract from its grandeur and antiquity. In Lermontov's poem Mtsyri, this monastery is mentioned. From the observation deck, there is a view of the confluence of the two rivers Kura and Aragva, the photo shows that the water of the Aragva River is clear, and the Kura is muddy. In the center of the temple is a huge cross, after which the temple is named. All the interiors of Georgian temples are quite ascetic compared to temples in Russia, but the antiquity of the buildings more than makes up for it. We have the same faith, so you can light candles and submit notes, venerate the shrines in all the temples you visit, and even receive the blessing of the priests. It was our first time in Georgia, but we felt at home. Have a good rest, everyone. The Javari Monastery and the Monastery of the Holy Cross are one and the same. Different name.

"A few years ago, Where, merging, they make noise, Embracing, like two sisters, Streams of Aragva and Chickens, There was a monastery," Lermontov. Jvari Monastery is a monument of early medieval Georgian architecture. It's worth coming here even if you're not a believer! The incredible view of Mtskheta, the mountains and the confluence of two rivers is mesmerizing (for the most beautiful photos, come before sunset to catch the moment when the sun begins to hide behind the mountains)

A very beautiful place, an old temple of the 6th century. According to legend, it was in this place that Saint Nino put her cross. The temple is in operation and under repair, the views from the observation deck are simply fantastic, the confluence of two rivers Kura and Aragvi, the city of Mtskheta is below. There is a parking lot nearby.

It is a very beautiful place that you want to visit every time you visit Georgia: - The temple stands on the very edge of the cliff, if you look from the side of Mtskheta, it seems that the temple is one with the rock, as if its continuation - There is a great view of the city and the river from here - You can visit the Temple itself, it is open - It is always very windy here, so it is worth considering this when planning a trip, especially in spring or autumn. It is quite hot here in summer.

The most beautiful view of Mtskheta. The Georgian monastery, which offers an impressive panorama of the historical capital of Georgia and the confluence of the Kura and Aragvi rivers. This place was immortalized by Lermontov in the poem Mtsyri. Inside the temple there is a pedestal on which, according to legend, stood the cross of Saint Nino. Definitely worth a visit! Admission is free, there is convenient Parking.

Beautiful, large-scale, fundamental. If you are interested in temples and history, then be sure to go. It's windy in winter, and you need to dress warmer. Inside, the upper part seemed to me to be under renovation... Maybe it's always been like this, it was my first time.

A place of power. According to legend, M.Y. Lermontov wrote "Mtsyri" here. The confluence of the Kura and Aragvi rivers is visible from the mountain. The free wind brings thoughts of freedom. I have already come here twice and I dream of coming again. The temple is working, services are going on. There is a parking lot nearby, a small market. And from the height you can enjoy the views of ancient and young Mtskheta

Beauty is a specific place of power. Be sure to go down the stairs to the source. The test is not easy, but the water there is magical. Take the bottle and take it home. I'll take a spoon for 50 liters. Treats a variety of problems including infertility. There is a list of couples who had children after the visit. The minister is very kind, he will tell you everything and show you

For 20 lari, my husband and I took a taxi to Jvari from Tbilisi in 40 minutes. We liked this option more, so we explored the monastery for almost 3 hours without looking back at anyone waiting. I had to "catch" a taxi back in the Yandex Go app (paid in cash) when he picked up and left other tourists. We were out of season and there were few taxis coming. It was a bit problematic to leave, but as I understand it, as a last resort, local merchants can help call a taxi to Mtskheta. The way back is much more expensive (25 lars to the center of Mtskheta in 20 minutes), we saw the city there. And 2.5 laras for the bus to Tbilisi. There was no public transport from Jvari.

It's just an incredibly beautiful place. The temple is located at an altitude overlooking the mountains and the rivers merging in a kiss, as Lermontov wrote. Inside it is quite modest, but I think they go there not for the sake of decorated walls, but to ask for help. It is best to get to the temple by taxi or car, because it will be difficult and long to get down from there to the cities.

The place is very beautiful! I remembered what it was called, and I only remembered Lermontov... Mtsyri... but it is by these proper names that you can find it. Monastery on the Internet. A unique place where two rivers merge into one next to each other. And the unique monastery - few people talk about it in the excursion programs, but now I have a great desire to come here as a temple.

One of the iconic and beautiful places in Georgia. Convenient access, easy accessibility, and extraordinary views have made this place very popular with tourists. The surroundings of the temple offer stunning views of the confluence of the Kura and Aragvi rivers. In clear weather, you can enjoy the views of Mtskheta and part of Tbilisi. The territory is being monitored. There is practically no debris or dirt. Souvenirs, utensils and locally prepared products can be purchased at the parking lot. Parking is free. I definitely recommend visiting this temple.

A beautiful place near Tbilisi, especially if you combine it with a visit to Mtskheta. The church itself, if I'm not mistaken, is 8th century and the walls have been blowing for thousands of years of history. Unfortunately, in the evening, pm could not get inside, but they admired the confluence of the Kura and Aragvi rivers, described by Lermontov in Mtsiri: Where, merging, they make noise, Hugging like two sisters, Streams of Aragva and Chickens, There was a monastery.

The infrastructure of one of the main tourist-frequented churches in the country is represented by several shabby tables with small bottles of sun-heated water and a manual juicer from the time of the Georgian SSR. There will be nothing at all along the way for the entire six kilometers. We will climb only from the Zagesi side, from the Mtskheta side the road is in such a condition that only descent is possible and that with difficulty. The church itself is beautiful. Only a taxi or a rented car. Hiking here is only for trained hikers.
