A very cool historical place, beautiful, without any pathos. You can come here at any time of the day and it is always beautiful 😻
For fans of photo shoots, come here.
In the evening at sunset and a little later, when the backlight is turned on, it is especially beautiful. You can walk, sit, enjoy the view. Romantic, although it is the tower of death.
The legend of the Kalyan Minaret
Many legends are associated with the tallest minaret in Central Asia – the Kalyan Minaret, in Bukhara. The Kalyan Minaret is a large Tower, but it has another name – the Tower of Death, since people convicted by the khan used to be thrown off it. Many legends are associated with girls who were executed on the orders of the khan.
One of these legends says that in ancient times there lived a shah. He was cruel and wayward. He was a bad ruler, and he spent all his time enjoying himself. The shah had a wife who tried to help people and fix the situation in the state. But, being afraid of her husband, she did it in secret. One day, the secret was revealed and the angry shah ordered his wife to be thrown from the Tower of Death. The heroine was an intelligent woman. On the eve of her execution, she asked her husband to fulfill her last wish. He agreed. On the day of the execution, the shahina put on all her dresses and skirts and climbed the tower with her head held high. All the people gathered around the minaret to see off their beloved ruler. The wise woman calmly stood on the edge of the minaret and jumped down. The people froze, but at the same moment shouts were heard in the crowd: "Oh, a miracle!" The woman did not die, because her dresses inflated with a parachute and gently lowered her down to the ground. Paying tribute to his wife's courage and ingenuity, the shah canceled the execution.

A great hotel for a couple of nights, a wonderful buffet breakfast with a wide range, a comfortable bed, silence in the rooms. A huge plus is the presence of an open restaurant with darstankhans on the roof of the hotel, which offers stunning views of the old town and the KALON MINARET, which is literally within walking distance (100 meters). In the evening, the views of the illuminated old town are simply FABULOUS! It is especially worth noting the charming staff of the hotel - responsive and attentive. Thank you for the oriental fairy tale!!!

A truly fabulous place.
It's like fairy tales come to life from the pages of the Scheherizade.
Atmospheric, magical, cozy.
Illuminated, the minaret is transformed, but at dawn it is no less beautiful.
To get beautiful photos, it is better to come around 6-7 in the morning or after 23 o'clock.

This is the minaret of the Friday mosque. It was built in 1127 from high-strength burnt brick with a height of 46.5 m. The tallest and oldest building in Bukhara. It is included in the UNESCO list. It has reached our days in almost unchanged form. Even Genghis Khan, who captured and destroyed Bukhara in 1220, did not raise his hand to destroy this stone miracle. The minaret served not only as a religious building, but also as a watchtower and a lighthouse, which was used to navigate in the desert. It was partially destroyed by the Red Army, at the time of the voluntary annexation of Turkestan to Russia, and is now restored and is the pearl not only of the city, but of the whole of Uzbekistan. A light airy minaret, as if soaring into the sky. The delicate delicate stone tracery on its walls attracts the eye. No matter how many times I passed by, I couldn't help but stop, I couldn't help but admire. One of the wonders that will never be erased from memory.

We lived within walking distance. The minaret is especially good at night, when the contrasting illumination emphasizes the oriental ornament of the brickwork. If you look closely, you can see the bright areas of the restoration masonry, which healed wounds from the destruction of the Civil War. It's a very beautiful place. It is possible to rent costumes, weapons and hats for spectacular photos)))

It's a beautiful place, very. But I do not advise buying drinks and so on from the store opposite. They sell everything more expensive especially to tourists. Once there was a case when the saleswoman told me not to show the money that I gave to buy some water, allegedly to tourists she would announce a different price and took the money so that tourists would not see. I didn't like it, it's not fair.

A wonderful, fabulous place. The beauty is extraordinary. Kalyan Minaret is a must-visit place for all tourists of Bukhara! The famous Kalyan Minaret is 46.5 m high .. At one time, the Kalyan minaret was an observation post, then a place of public execution. Many legends are associated with this majestic structure. For example, why did Genghis Khan burn the Kalyan Mosque, but did not touch the minaret? It is said that when he came to the foot, the commander threw back his head to look at the minaret. At that moment, either from a gust of wind, or from the fact that the minaret was very high, the hat fell from the noble head of the great commander. It was this fact that became the reason for the khan's mercy, since not in front of every building did His Serene Highness take off his monarch's headdress.

The minaret is simply epochal. Be sure to visit it both in the afternoon and in the evening, when it will be all illuminated. Just a unique structure with a height of more than 40 meters. It is built entirely of bricks. Around you can see how different rings form a unique ornament with bricks. At the top of the minaret there are speakers that broadcast the AZAN - the call of Muslims to prayer. By the way, the mosque to which the minaret belongs is operational, all Muslims who wish can perform prayer.

The minaret is really impressive. And not only with the realization that 900 years ago they could build such tall structures (and even in an earthquake-prone zone!), but also with their really beautiful architecture. It is especially beautiful in the dark, when the backlight is turned on.

A masterpiece of architecture of the XII century. The highest point of the old city of Bukhara. Especially the minaret performs a religious task, where the muezzin calls for prayer. There are epigraphic inscriptions in three places: a saying from the Koran, information about the date and the name of the ruler. It is a pity that in 1920 the minaret was very badly damaged. Now the minaret shines golden at night and looks very beautiful. It is very convenient for photo lovers

If you want to save money, do not eat in the center, step back a little or leave and buy where the locals eat, it's delicious and atmospheric there, well, if you don't need a rest.
