The historical Mosque-i Kebir (Great Mosque) in Kayseri is one of the oldest and most important structures of the city, built by the ruler of Danishmend, Melik Mehmet Gazi in 1135. The mosque, located near the Grand Bazaar, was repaired in 1206 and renovated in 1723 after the earthquake of 1716.
