I visited the "Mother Armenia” monument in Shirak province, a landmark place for everyone who is interested in history and military subjects. The scale is impressive: 18 meters high - it's really cool! The bronze statue of a woman with an ear of corn in her hand symbolizes the victory and strength of the Armenian people. It looks especially impressive against the background of the local landscape. The surrounding area is well maintained: multi-tiered stairs, cascades of fountains (although they are not working now), the alley of hero cities. The names of 3,864 Gyumri residents who died in World War II are carved on the white marble wall - a very powerful place. It's easy to get there: you can walk or take minibus No. 26 (AMD 100 per person). The site offers magnificent views of the city and the mountains - it's definitely worth climbing!

"Mother Armenia" is a monument in honor of the victory of the Soviet Union in the Great Patriotic War in Yerevan. It is located on a hilltop in Akhtanak Park (Pobedy). The sculpture is located on the main axis of Mesrop Mashtots Avenue, towering over the Matenadaran building. It has a height of 54 m, of which 22 m is the height of the statue. It is made of hammered copper. It was built in 1975. Initially, a monument to Joseph Stalin (sculptor Sergey Merkurov) stood on the pedestal. The pedestal was built in 1950 by architect Rafael Israelian. In 1962, the sculpture of Stalin was dismantled. In 1967, a 22-meter-high statue of "Mother Armenia" by sculptor Ara Harutyunyan was installed on an empty pedestal. There was no official opening ceremony. The pedestal with a stepped finish is made of granite, the motifs of the national ornament — stone carving are used. The exterior of the pedestal is decorated with black Armenian tuff, the lower platform and steps are basalt. On the obverse there is a bas—relief in the form of the Order of Victory. Evgenia Muradyan, a 17-year-old girl, became the prototype of the "Mother of Armenia". Ara Harutyunyan met her in a store and persuaded her to pose for a sculpture. The sculpture symbolizes the power and greatness of the Motherland, the desire for peace and the willingness to defend this world at any moment. The image of a mother sheathing a sword conveys the strength, endurance and indomitable spirit of the Armenian nation. The figure pays tribute to the countless generations of Armenian women who stood by their husbands, taking up arms to defend their homeland.

It's a very beautiful place, you can see that the city is gradually being transformed and everything is being restored, and I really liked that they still honor the memory of those who died in the Great Patriotic War.
