We went to the cinema after visiting the National Art Museum. This cinema was the closest. The screening was in the second small hall. The hall is small, 5 rows, only about fifty seats. Modern comfortable upholstered chairs. There are compartments for popcorn cups between them. I have pleasant impressions.

And no one gives a damn if you need to go somewhere after the movie... Maybe we don't have much time... And we didn't turn around or leave, we drove for 50 minutes. The movie finally started, watched by a full house of chatting adults and children! It's just an irresponsible attitude!

For a long time, the Pioneer cinema was considered the largest children's cinema in the BSSR. Designed by Grigory Zaborsky and Leonid Levin, the cinema opened in 1966 on Engels Street. The building is an excellent example of early Soviet modernist architecture with a large open space and solid glazing, through which you can see the interior foyer with mosaics and a winter garden. Initially, it was planned to make two cinemas, but the architects changed the project, so a puppet theater appeared in the building. The division into theater and cinema is noticeable by the stained glass window on the facade: the part where the fairy-tale characters are depicted belongs to the theater, the smiling Gagarin is the territory of cinema. Inside, in the lobby of the Pioneer cinema, there is a large mosaic panel "happy childhood", a winter garden, a decorative grille and a swimming pool. The authors of the mosaic are artists Ivan Tikhonov and the Belarusian classic Evgeny Zaitsev, who once studied at Chagall's art workshops. The mosaic features happy children from different countries and continents, animals and a female figure resembling the goddess of fertility Demeter.
