The monastery is part of the UNESCO heritage, so there are a lot of tourists from all over the world. It takes only an hour to get from Yerevan to Sevanavank. We were in the evening, at this time it is very quiet and cozy here, you can enjoy the beautiful views of Lake Sevan, take pictures quietly, without crowds. To climb to the monastery, you need to overcome a steep stone staircase of 230 steps. It is rumored that if a pilgrim ascends it three times, it is equated to a visit to Mecca.

A picturesque place. Climbing up the many steps to Sevanovank, you can enjoy an incredible view of Sevan. The monasteries themselves are not very remarkable, let's just say there are many of them all over Armenia. You can put a candle in temples, but it is better to buy it near the monastery, and not at the foot of the stairs, it is much more expensive there. Souvenirs are located along the length of the stairs, and Mir cards are accepted in several places. The toilet near the temple is paid, the visit to the monastery is free.

We were with a guide on a Monday in December, there are only a few people besides us. The height is 1900m. I really liked it. The temple of the 9th century. The view of the lake and the mountains is simply amazing, no photos convey what you can see there live. The combination of mountain snow peaks with the coastline around the perimeter of the lake is amazing.

The monastery is located on the shore, surrounded by the expanses of the lake, which, by the way, is very large. In April, it is still cool and there is practically no greenery. The architecture, as in the whole country, is strict and at the same time monolithic and unshakable, it will stand for the same amount of time. It is better to choose the time for swimming closer to August. Purely for the sake of Sevanak, I do not recommend going, but I recommend the intermediate stage to Dilijan :)

Previously, the monastery was on the island, now that the level in Sevan has become lower, it is already a peninsula.
There are steps leading to the monastery. There are a lot of them and that's the beauty of it too. There are rest areas during the ascent.
The monastery itself has survived its former glory and greatness, now there are only a couple of churches and the foundations of buildings, which now only remind of themselves with these foundations.
But the view around is simply amazing. The color of the lake is azure, around the mountains, clouds and some kind of endless expanse.
It's very cool.

Before the lake was crushed, the peninsula was an island, it was separated from the mainland by a 3-kilometer strait, so fishermen and fugitive criminals mainly settled on it. At the time when the monks chose the island, a stone wall was built encircling it with a watchtower and a small gate. Inside the wall there were four churches, cells for monks and numerous outbuildings.
