The wooden castle of Slonim was located here in the 12th century, and from the 16th to the 18th centuries it was the residence of the Slonim elders. In this part of the historical center of Slonim, a 1 km long canal and an austeria (guest house), which were part of the architectural and landscape complex of MK Oginsky, have been preserved. Slonim was mentioned in the Ipatiev Chronicle in 1252. However, the settlement was founded two centuries earlier. This is evidenced by the castle, which is located in the center of the modern city. The historical center is located on the left bank of the Shchara River. In the XVII century . There was a wooden castle of the mayor of the city, Chancellor Lev Sapieha, and later on this place the grand Hetman of Lithuania, Michal Kazimir Oginsky, built a beautiful palace with a theater, a printing house, an arena, a greenhouse, outbuildings, a pond and a garden. Unfortunately, only Austeria has survived to this day (a visiting house, the 2nd half of the 18th century).

A historical place. It has a symbolic meaning for the city. It is located near the center, the park and the Oginsky Canal.

It's a very nice town! Clean, cozy! Buildings are repaired every year, the city is being renovated, and the beautiful embankment!)))
