For all fortress lovers.
A great place with a rich history. You can climb the Golden Gate, which offers a beautiful view of the city and the Marmara Sea with ships going into the horizon.
In general, this is the category of attractions that, although not popular (too far from Sultanahmet, although there is a tram that can be reached in 25 minutes. And if you decide to walk from Sultanahmet to the fortress 1-1.5 hours on foot, you can also see the "non-parade" Istanbul)., but it is actively being restored and has good information support. In this regard, it was very reminiscent of our Izborsk in the Pskov region.
The price is more than affordable - 250 liras for 1 adult on 03.09.24.
Tourists 1.5 people.
I definitely recommend you to visit.

Reconstruction is underway, but it is open to the public. The cost is 250 lire, they give you a booklet. I love such objects. There are practically no people, the views are amazing, on the sea, on the city, very atmospheric!
It is better to go in the daytime, because the area is not tourist, near a cemetery, car repairs, car disassembly, vegetable gardens of local residents, a bus stop that goes to the city center, one cafe like a local tea-coffee sandwich.

A great place, with a minimum number of tourists. There is an opportunity to climb the fortress and admire the views of the city and the strait. The cost in October 2024 is 250 liras per person. There is a small cafe on site. They give out a booklet at the entrance with a description, which can help you get to know the history of the fortress in more detail. I recommend you to visit

🌄🏺 Let's go to ancient times with Oleg the Prophetic!
In 907, Oleg went on a campaign to Constantinople, the heart of the Byzantine Empire. It was not just a military campaign, but a symbol of the strength and unity of the Eastern Slavs! 💪💖
Like a real commander, he gathered his loyal troops and headed for the majestic walls of the city on ships. According to legend, thanks to cunning and luck, he was able to negotiate with the Byzantine rulers and ensure peaceful trade relations! ⚔️🕊️
This campaign became a significant stage in history, and also proved that even the strongest enemies can be turned down by cunning and wisdom.

The ticket price is 250 liras
(It's cheap in Istanbul today!)
The castle is being reconstructed
But you can walk through the territory, climb the wall, enter the towers
Great view!!!
The castle is beautiful, despite the construction site
It is optimal to get from Sirenji station to Yedikulu by the Marmaray train and look at the remains of the fortress wall along the sea and then go to the castle
There are cafes and shops near the castle with prices lower than Sultanahmet (grill House at 44 Imam Hussein Street)

I was very pleasantly surprised. I thought it was just another cold stone, but I was wrong. The atmospheric place of Istanbul. You can climb the wall, walk along stone passages that are hundreds of years old and at the end have a coffee on the lawn in the center of this historical monument. It is mandatory to visit.

A beautiful building with a rich history, entrance is 100 lira, a booklet on the history of the fortress and a diagram are given with a ticket, very few tourists, the restoration of the minaret of the first Islamic mosque in the city is underway in the center. There is a cafe and a toilet on site.

It's just great!! There are few tourists, the entrance is 250 lire. It's a pity that there is no audio guide. You can get from the historical center by metro or bus in 15-20 minutes. If you are interested in history, then you should definitely visit this place

We visited this castle museum in early April 2024.
I really liked it! The entrance is only 100 liras, while in addition to the castle itself, you can also go upstairs and admire the beautiful panorama of Istanbul.
There are still few tourists. The castle is under reconstruction, I think over time it will be "promoted" and there will be noticeably more tourists.
Another plus is the relative proximity to the center. From Yenikapi and back we walked 4 km along a beautiful and deserted promenade.
But you can also get there by train.

The process of restoring the fortress is still in progress, but the result is already visible. The place is gorgeous, especially if you are tired of the crowds of idly staggering bags. The view from the walls is magnificent, and there is a place to climb inside. I am attaching a short video guide to the fortress. Have a nice trip, everyone.

The fortress is beautiful, but many entrances are closed. The spirit of antiquity spoils the mosque inside the fortress. Tickets to all museums in Istanbul are expensive.

As they say, the very fortress with the very golden gate, to which the Prophetic Oleg nailed his shield. Admission for tourists is 100 liras per person. They are given a brochure with a map and the history of the fortress in English and Turkish. Not for idle wandering, but for history lovers. There is a very colorful area around with narrow streets and small houses.

We were in September 2023. The price is 100 liras. 4 towers are open to the public. Round Turkish towers are empty inside. Square Byzantine tower at the Golden Gate in the inside with filling. Wooden decks and ladders. Ascent to the decks is prohibited. But there are no guards. We got up.
The ascent to the walls is closed for security reasons. High and there is no railing. The ascent to the Golden Gate Towers is open. Inside the Byzantine tower there is a stone staircase. There are two guardhouses along the way.

Yedikule Castle is an interesting museum where you can learn the history of Istanbul. The fortress was built by the Ottomans in 1458, and once housed a prison. We visited the museum, examined the torture chambers and saw the remains of decorations on the gates. There are thick walls inside, and the atmosphere of the fortress is felt. I recommend it for history lovers.

The cost for tourists is 250 liras (approximately 750 rubles at the exchange rate on July 23, 2024). But not the most expensive of entertainment. Restoration work is underway. From the interesting: you can go upstairs and look towards the sea, and that's probably it... I won't go there a second time and I don't advise you. It is better to go to the sea to swim
