The Maiden Tower is a very interesting tourist object, many mysteries and riddles are connected with it. Previously, the Caspian Sea reached the walls of the tower, this was taken into account during construction and therefore the tower has a protective ledge. There are several floors in the tower itself, at the beginning there is a spiral staircase, then steps, on each floor expositions, including interactive ones, help to imagine how life went on in the tower at that time. There is an observation deck at the top of the tower, a very beautiful view of the city. There were pleasant impressions from the guide with whom we walked around the Old Town, the tour was more than two hours, I really liked it.

A beautiful place, and from the tower - so the whole embankment is generally visible! Impressive! Especially if you think that once the tower was submerged in water by almost one and a half to two meters. And, according to legend, the khan's unfaithful wives were thrown from it into the abyss of waves (although, if you think about it, where would they come from - the infidels) or during military operations - so that they would not get to the enemy.

Built in the XII century AD, the Maiden Tower was located inside the sea. But over time, with the ebb of the Caspian Sea, the tower came to land. Legend has it that the khan's daughter was thrown from this tower. She was married to someone else, and apart from her lover, she did not want to be with anyone.
In fact, there are many versions about its purpose. Some linguists say that the name "Giz galasy" is not "Maiden Tower". The word "Giz" could sound like "Goose", and this, when translated from the old Turki language, means "Turk", respectively, its name could be "Turkskaya Tower", and its purpose, at that time, could be military-strategic.
