The facade of the building is beautiful, in principle that's all ... I dreamed of celebrating my birthday in it, we arrived, but the staff turned out to be not customer-oriented, apparently after Russia it was difficult for us to accept such service.
There were flowers on all the tables, but they didn't even bother to put them on us, they planted them right at the entrance. We, who are used to our restaurants, were surprised when the greeter answered our question whether there are any buns (as usual, we are used to a compliment from the restaurant) for a birthday, we heard that someone always comes here with some kind of holiday, so there is nothing. Well, figs with him, of course I wanted to shoot an epic commercial, but you can do it.
We ordered Dorado on the grill, if we weren't so hungry, and we couldn't imagine where else to eat, we wouldn't have eaten this boiled fish. In general, the association is now about this restaurant, that it is absolutely not worth its advertising and in my blog I did not use to report this

The atmosphere of the place is great thanks to literally everything that surrounds you. The building itself, assembled without a single nail, a whiff of history is felt by every cell of the skin. We were served by the waiter Ekaterina, who not only offered various dishes in detail and deliciously, but also immersed us in the details of historical events that took place in this iconic place.
The kitchen is beyond praise.

A nice beautiful restaurant with its own history. But the staff and the children screaming at the neighboring tables spoiled the atmosphere.
This restaurant has 10% of the service from the account and it is in the interests of the waiters to sell dishes and drinks as expensive as possible. As a result, out of all the variety of wine in the bar menu, we were given the only sweet wine available for fish and meat. Well, that's it.
The dishes are good, there are no questions for the cook)

Начну с плюсов, конечно это внешний вид ресторана, красиво, величественно, здание с интересной историей. На этом пожалуй все, в ресторан большой ажиотаж, если хотите сесть на «козырное место» с видом, то придется забронировать стол. Мы не бронировали, пришли по факту и нас поставили перед фактом, что у них действует система депозита, взрослые -2000₽ дети 1000₽, ну ок, рассаживает хостес, т.е. сами выбрать себе свободный стол вы не сможете. Ну, это все мелочи, нам принесли меню, оно достаточно разнообразное, я выбрала царскую уху на первое и стейк из семги на второе. Принесли уху, я отметила, что в меню в ухе были креветки, по факту их там не оказалось, ну ладно, уха оказалась вкусная. Вынесли стейк и тут я понимаю, что в меню я к стейку идет спаржа, но мне ее не принесли. Позвали официанта, она сделала вид, что удивлена, но я уверена, что это норма у них в ресторане, рассчитано на невнимательных туристов, спаржа ведь не самый дешевый продукт, а в меню он идет как отдельный вид гарнира. Спаржу в итоге принесли, но она была просто несъедобная, ножом не резалась, есть я ее не стала. Сам стейк тоже не назвать очень вкусным, и это блюдо на минуточку там стоит 1600₽) еще заказывали якобы домашний лимонад, не знаю что для абхазов лимонад, но для меня это уж то но не компот разбавленный минералкой с добавлением мяты. Ценник тоже не малый за компот 600₽. Короче, мы не доели то что заказывали, мне лично было невкусно и плюсом еще получила расстройство желудка, болел живот всю ночь и мутило. До этого ужина и после мы ничего не ели, соотвественно можно сделать выводы. Я не рекомендую это место посещения, если бы не было депозита, можно бы было зайти, выпить кофе, а кушать там не стоит.

Perhaps for someone it was the best and most prestigious restaurant in Gagra, but now, alas, it is not so. Excellent architecture, cozy place, pleasant atmosphere - this is all that remains positive in this place.
The smiling administrator immediately warns that the deposit per person is 1500 rubles and if you are satisfied with it, invites you to a table. The menu and wine list were served immediately. By menu...the menu raises a lot of questions that the waiters will answer, if you wait for them, of course. Although the answers, as it turned out later, are not entirely reliable. Of what we would like to order, there were no dishes and drinks. And if the dishes can be replaced with something, then it's a problem with drinks. In addition to liter compote and mineral water, there is nothing from soft drinks.
While waiting for the order, we were able to walk and enjoy the views. This is perhaps the most pleasant of the whole trip to this institution.
When we received our dishes, we were surprised by the large portion size...but the taste left much to be desired. The meat is dry and cooked on obviously bad and old oil. This rancid taste was on everything that was fried, and from the dish in the pan, even smelled of this disgusting oil. They could not eat it, and considering that there is nothing to drink with ... more.
When it came time to pay, it turned out that there was not a single employee in the hall...there was a desire to just get up and leave.
If you want to spend a pleasant evening and have a delicious meal, the city of Gagra will offer you many places, but not the "restaurant" Gagripsh.

Thanks to everyone who wrote negative reviews, went to the restaurant prepared for impolite staff, tasteless food, deposit and what else they scare.
The friendlier the communication with the attentive smiling waiter Elena turned out to be, the tastier the dishes turned out to be, the more pleasant the musical accompaniment.
Indeed, there is an advertisement in front of the entrance to the hall banning excursions in the restaurant and a fine for photos. As a restaurant guest with two hands for this. I would not like to see crowds of tourists with cameras rushing past the table.
The receptionist greeted us warmly, offered us a choice of several tables (we had not booked in advance), and did not require any deposit from the threshold.
While waiting for the order, trying not to disturb other vacationers, we examined the hall and took a photo from the balcony. So did other guests of the restaurant. The staff did not forbid this.
I liked all the ordered dishes. Achapa set and meat in Abkhazian were especially good. We took dry white wine "Gagripsh" (it is an exclusive wine on the menu), a good quality drink.
Yes, the prices are not low and 10% of the service fee is included in the bill by default. But I think this can be justified by the high costs of maintaining the old building in proper condition.
I liked the saxophonist, violinist and singer, the repertoire is pleasant.

A very beautiful building, we arrived in October, we wanted to go in - a wedding, no one is allowed except the guests. Okay, I see. We call the restaurant, we want to book a table, they say the restaurant is closed until January for the wedding!
And you can't even just go to see the interior of the restaurant!! Even in the morning, when obviously the weddings haven't started yet!
Although obviously, the most important thing here is the building itself, its architecture and interior, not the restaurant!

We had a vacation in Abkhazia recently with friends. The driver from the transfer highly recommended visiting this institution. But alas, we did not pass face control in the opinion of an unpleasant girl who is a waiter in this institution. When asked to suggest where to sit down, we were asked to first familiarize ourselves with the menu, and then decide whether we can pull these prices. We were shocked by this attitude. We looked at the menu out of interest , saw the average prices by the standards of Moscow and the region . But the girl clearly did not want to see us in this institution , which she reported . Actually, we left this place without trying anything. (we looked decent by the way, not in swimsuits, etc.)

Having visited Abkhazia for the first time in July 2023 and visiting Gagripsh, to be honest, we were amazed by the atmosphere, beauty and food. Upon arrival home, they told their friends. And so we came again, May 2024, we tell my wife and my friend that we definitely need to visit Gagripsha, we come to Gagry and they tell us at the entrance that the deposit per person is 1500 rubles, they tried to explain that we want to eat, but not the fact that it will be 1500 rubles, but they told us, here is the door and you You're free. A wonderful atmospheric place! We were there for the New Year holidays. The combination of garlands, live music and awareness of the origin and age of the restaurant create a fabulous atmosphere! Of course, you want to dress appropriately in such a place (obviously not short shorts or holey jeans). The cuisine is delicious and hearty, the desserts are very tasty! Everything is great!

Шикарный ресторан в сердце Гагр 💚 живая музыка, вкусное меню , прекрасные виды с балкона ресторана ! Советую всем посетить, но лучше столик бронировать заранее , хотя мы пришли без брони, девушка администратор повздыхала с видом дела что нас некуда посадить... все занято 🤷♀️и предложила столик у выхода , мы согласились , потому что был крайний день отпуска , и очень хотелось побывать в данном заведении , но все кто приходил после нас , тоже не бронировали места и им тоже находились места 🤷♀️🤷♀️странно однако )))

Friends, I rarely leave negative reviews, but here I can't pass by this "restaurant". I strongly recommend not to spoil your vacation and visit this place for a feast! Extremely mediocre cuisine at a huge cost! The service is extremely slow, the guys clearly do not meet the visitor halfway in the literal and figurative sense (they compare the time of choosing a dish from the menu with choosing an apartment to buy). The taste of the dishes and especially the freshness of the ingredients leaves much to be desired. In the photo, you can check out the quality of the wine label for 2.5k - in fact, it turned out to be not wine, but juice diluted with alcohol. Places like this spoil such a wonderful republic. It's a pity, I hope the owners will improve. Of the advantages, I will note the location of the institution and its appearance, the place sets up for a good end to the evening, unfortunately, the advantages end there.

It was 07.09.2024. Of the advantages, the violin was playing. The signature Gagripsh salad disappointed. The menu does not specify the composition and calculation of this dish. When asked about the composition, the waiter said that it includes beef tenderloin, bell pepper, cucumber. As a result, the salad was mostly Chinese cabbage, and it was quite spicy. When I asked why this happened and what the ratio of ingredients should be, the waiter politely advised me to order those dishes that you know and that there is now a new chef who has completely changed the recipe for the signature salad. Gagripsh restaurant is an atmospheric place, undoubtedly you want to come here. My advice is not to be fascinated by his cuisine in advance, so as not to be disappointed later. More recently, to eat here, the order must be at least 2000 rubles per person + 10% fee.

We decided to visit this institution as part of sightseeing of old Gagra and drink a cup of coffee, contemplating the views of the restaurant. However, our humble desires were immediately wrapped up by a nice lady at the entrance (the receptionist?) informing us that it will cost us 4,500 re to enter and occupy an empty table. Just to come in and sit at a table for 4,500 rubles, Karl!!! Not to mention ordering something, of course I understand that the restaurant is very popular and all that... But not to the same extent... If this institution were located somewhere in the center of Dubai, and not surrounded by overgrown trees and abandoned sanatoriums, then these prices could still be understood... Moreover, about 8 years ago, the entrance was completely free. So dear tourists and guests, if you have extra money, you are welcome, as they say, and we will do it some other time.

Oh, this institution is the most controversial in all of Abkhazia. It is well-known. Being a local landmark, crowds of people come here, allowing the locals to profit from it. if we discard the historical significance of the institution, then in fact it is the most mediocre restaurant. The deposit at the entrance was charged 2000 rubles per person. When asked why not one and a half, as I read in the reviews below, the girl at the reception explained that 1,500 rubles per person is a daily deposit, and in the evening 2,000 rubles. In general, it feels like the price is taken out of your head.
On food: again, contradictory impressions. Salads are really very tasty and correspond to the declared level. Almost all dishes from the "Abkhazian cuisine" section are missing, which is very strange, considering that the place is historical and, in fact, food should be offered in accordance with the concept. But there is Tom Yam soup. Unfortunately, it's just disgusting. I ate a lot of different Tom yams in various establishments of different price segments, but this was the most disgusting Tom Yam. Rather, it's just fish soup.
Service: should Abkhazia even talk about it? The waiter served us as if we were servants. He spoke through his teeth, but he didn't want to help at all. but most of all, I was surprised that when ordering the main dishes, coffee and dessert, the first thing the waiter brought out was coffee. To my remark that I would like to drink coffee with dessert and preferably not cold coffee, the waiter reimbursed me that I actually did not warn him about this in advance. Surprisingly, even in establishments of a class below this, the waiters themselves are interested in when to serve drinks. It is NOT the client who should take care of this. At the same time, as everywhere in Abkhazia, the institution charges a service fee of 10% of the receipt. It's funny, because there is no smell of service here. I think as long as there is a service fee in the country, we will not wait for service, because waiters do not need to try and you can be rude, rude and treat customers randomly, because tips will fall into their pocket. And the passability of the restaurant is such that it is not necessary to try to ensure that the guest returns to them at all.
As a result, the restaurant, as an attraction, can be visited and viewed from the outside. But I would not recommend eating there. There are establishments with much better taste and service. Disappointed

According to the reviews, we decided to go to the most atmospheric place, BUT: from the threshold they looked at us like homeless people and offered to pay a deposit of 2 thousand per person (there were five of us). Without understanding the price, the menu, how can you ask in such a tone from the doorstep: are you ready to pay when we haven't understood anything at all yet, except that you can't move around the restaurant and there's a fine for it? Oh, I do not know how to describe it, the place is really incredibly beautiful, I really want to go back to the resort, Abkhazia is probably the most budget-friendly place in the world where you can relax, and the Gagripsh restaurant has an incredible historical secret-legend. Сегодня посетила ресторан "Гагрипш". Итак, почему же только 2 звезды?
Плюсы:
1) Очень хорошо сохранилась атмосфера 19-20 века, приятная музыка, чистый зал.
2) Десерт был вкусный, а основные блюда не плохими (на вкус).
Минусы:
1) Что с обслуживанием? Почему официант не знает что у них есть, а чего нет?! Кстати, на этот вопрос он ответил - "Я только проснулся...". В итоге нам принесли салат и... десерт. Почему сначала принесли чизкейк, а не основные блюда (к слову, он принёс лишний кусочек)?!
2) Что с подачей? Почему вместо аккуратного салата мы видим прямоугольник из оливье, на нём тигров креветку, немного икры и листик с боку (абсолютно непонятно, что он там забыл).
3) Свежесть продуктов (в моём случае это были мидии). Нам принесли тарелку с пятью мидиями (вместо заявленных 7-8 штук!!!). Мидии съели, вроде неплохо. Но потом у моей мамы появились первые симптомы отравления (подскачило давление, головокружение, боль в животе, тошнота), стало понятно что ЛИБО мидии были не первой свежести, ЛИБО сочетание продуктов в блюде весьма сомнительное... Прошло больше 7 часов, а живот до сих пор болит, стошнило. Благо я ела другое блюдо.
И я бы не возмущалась так сильно, если бы минимальный чек с человека не начинался от 1000 рублей (это не число из ветра, а правило в "визитной карточке" Абхазии).
В общем, самое приятное из всего что там было - это антураж и само здание.

Место историческое и очень любопытное с точки зрения архитектуры, жаль что часы не ходят, зато со второго этажа с веранды замечательный вид на море. Цены выше среднего, есть депозит 1500 на человека, если планируете оставить меньше, вас не пустят! Еда не плохая, но и особенной её тоже не назовешь, например салат цезарь за 600 рублей, ничем не отличался от такого же за 400 в обычном кафе. В общем для одного раза место неплохое, сделать красивые фото и полюбоваться редкой архитектурой, но не более того.

The food is OK, but nothing fancy.
But the service leaves much to be desired.
The staff is not friendly.
It was immediately indicated that the entrance is only for a deposit of 1,500 rubles per visitor. There were 6 of us, we took a chance, went in)
Dirty dishes were removed from the table only after we asked the waiters about it, dirty plates were taken away, but clean ones were not brought in return, only at our request.
The toilets are broken, one of the three booths was working and there is no paper on it, a queue is gathering. The interior is beautiful, but going up to the balcony you can see that it is covered in dust, there is no maintenance for the hall..
In general, the owners of the restaurant definitely need to pay attention to the service, it leaves much to be desired.

the dishes are not so delicious, we have an ordinary dinner in another restaurant there it is much tastier and cheaper, the price tags for the dishes are put only for their presentability.
we were not allowed to enter the restaurant at 19:30, although we arrived at 19:10, for some reason we cannot choose a table when booking, they just leave a random table for those who booked when they arrived by taxi and drove to the upper landing from there we were kicked out, allegedly we spoil the building there.
there are a lot of disadvantages, I have described about only 40% of all the disadvantages

We were here for the first time and will never return and we do not recommend it to anyone!!! We were met by an arrogant girl who said from the doorway that we should spend at least 3,000 for two and was very unhappy that we moved to another table (the air conditioner was blowing strongly), shouted across the hall that we had moved, as in a collective farm. There are signs everywhere that you can't go anywhere, everything is forbidden. Of the 3 cubicles in the toilet, only one works and that is very narrow and uncomfortable. The elderly waitress is very unfriendly, frankly impolite. We waited a very long time for the order to be accepted, and even longer for the food to be delivered. All the dishes are not delicious, they did not understand at all who is praising the food here. Among other things, tips are already included in your bill automatically, so the waiters are relaxed, good service does not even smell. A complete disappointment, in general! Атмосфера и архитектура здания, это просто класс, вид изо всех окон потрясающий.
Кухня норм, но за такой ценник это должно было быть отвал всего.
Обслуживание - жуть! Причем какая-то странная общая надменная атмосфера. Ты заходишь и тебя как будто оценивают по платежеспособности. Сразу - депозит 1500 на человека, это неприятно. Якобы держат бронь столов у окошка. Несколько раз мне хотелось уйти. Особенно после того как за соседним столиком ребятам официант сказала, что они выбрали дешевое вино!!! Серьезно? Если такой вы крутой ресторан, то как у вас может подаваться плохое вино. Вообщем мне дико это всё, как будто в девяностых побывала. Традиционным абхазским гостеприимством тут и не пахнет.
Но я всеравно была рада тут пообедать, очень понравилось внутри и балкон. Историческая ценность перевесила.
Брали - два супа, каре ягненка, мясо по-абхазски, картофель фри, две порции коньяка, овощи гриль. Счет вышел чуть больше 6тр

We had dinner on June 24, 2024, the building certainly made an impression, the saxophone perfectly complemented the evening, but alas, the food did not surprise and did not like it, the tablecloths are absolutely not snow-white as historically they should be, the waiters are not majestic, the children run along the embankment and slam the doors to the veranda, launching flies (I have nothing against children no way) but.... But, the restaurant, the service, the prices........ It's not worth it!
And the bathroom.... It's a stink, dirt, one non-lockable stall!!!
I give 5 stars - the place is like a historical monument at its best, and the commercial facilities inserted into it are terrible!
