The 3rd time in the caves. 78th, 2000th, and 24th.(already with grandchildren). They're still impressive. The beauty of the caves, how everything is technically designed (in the Soviet Union. times). And now everything is maintained at the same level. One of the disadvantages is an absolutely smelly toilet in the building, the drains do not work.The children stopped their noses and went in. And the cafe is there - tasteless, expensive, hot, you can only wash your hands in the dishwasher. It seems like a trifle, but the impression of Abkhazia was supported. Yes, and the sea, we wanted to swim on the way, just household garbage floats in the sea, we had to turn around. The drivers are local, I've never seen worse, even in the Caucasus. Despite everything, the caves are beautiful, they left very strong impressions.

Ambiguous impressions of the visit - a one-time visit, delivery to the beginning of the route and back is interesting, on a small train in a tunnel, a mini metro, it's cool inside, plus 14, you need a sweater, or they give you a plaid for rent for 100 rubles, in places it's slippery, better in sneakers, beautiful, unusual, but very stretched time, 1 hour 20 minutes, is very long, despite the fact that almost half of this time is waiting on the observation decks, there are six of them, walking slowly, it would be better to make an audio guide and an independent passage and an independent departure on the next train back, a little sorry for the lost time, but it's worth visiting once. Admission is only for cash or transfer, there is Wi-Fi at the checkout, the price is 700 rubles. There are young people who spend without a ticket on the next train for the same amount, tickets at the ticket office were already sold for the next excursion in 20 minutes, and so they did not have to wait, they immediately went on an excursion.

The impression of the tour is strongly influenced by the work of the guide. A very obsessive woman who talks about the cave only in tourist stop areas. After you go underground, you will all be gathered in a small area where half as many people would feel cramped. Then the guide will begin his story about the strict rules of behavior. You will move between the sights in silence, it would be much more comfortable to slowly walk around listening to the guide's story, but according to incomprehensible rules introduced by dilapidated old ladies, this is not possible. It is also impossible to leave the tour, because the path is illuminated only where the guide is, so that you do not leave alone without her.
There is a warning at the entrance to the cave that there is a constant temperature of +15, but it is much colder there. Because of the dampness, you will be haunted by the smell of rotten socks.
In reality, this tour should be conducted for a group of no more than 15-20 people, then it will be comfortable and informative, but not for 50-60 people, when there is really nowhere to even stand, let alone consider something. Well, the smell of fumes from some tourists combined with the smell of stale socks will be the cherry on the cake!

Perhaps the most vivid impression of a trip to Abkhazia, most of the sights are located in new Athos: the monastery, the cell of the Apostle Kananit, the Fortress and caves. All of them are recommended to visit, this is a very intensive tour in one day, so that it is not tedious, it is better to lay two days: the first cell and monastery, the second caves and fortress. Keep in mind that visiting the caves is only in a group and strictly on schedule (in my opinion every hour), in autumn and the low season tickets for the next session ended, I had to buy the next one, and pass the waiting time in a cafe. I have never spared either time or money - the impressions are indescribable!

I have probably never seen such magnificent majestic caves anywhere: underground lakes, stalactites, stalagmites, a perfectly equipped hiking route and excellent guides. Special thanks to the Moscow metro, which paved the railway path in the tunnel to the caves. The kids are just thrilled!!! Excursions are conducted in groups of 40-50 people. The presence of shops on the route turned out to be a big and pleasant surprise. They helped us out a lot, as they were with elderly companions and children. The tour lasts about 40 minutes, and plaids are offered at the entrance for 100 rubles. Don't take videos and take fewer pictures of the cave's attractions. Photos can be viewed at home on the Internet. Look at EVERYTHING with your own eyes, not through the smartphone camera screen. This way the impressions and memories will be much bigger and brighter. Recharge with positivity. Wear comfortable shoes, preferably sneakers. The cave is damp and slippery in places. Take a windbreaker, a jacket. The temperature is plus 13-15°. You will feel stuffy in the last halls, but do not worry about it. Have a pleasant experience. Refuse to buy minerals in the cave. Buy them before leaving the building (on the left). There they are much larger and much cheaper.

The queue to buy a ticket in July 2024 was already before the opening, it stood for 30 minutes, but it's better to walk like this until the tour buses arrive, then there are even more queues. It is amazing in its size. The cave is very well maintained, the route is well equipped, clean. The guide tells everything in detail. I would like to mention the inconvenient entrance and parking problems. It seems there is a sign "parking", but they run up from a nearby cafe and tell them that this is their private territory and demand money. They don't give you checks, they don't show you any documents. But this is a systemic problem of Abkhazia as a whole.

In early November, there were no queues at the box office, we bought tickets for the next session without any problems. Do not buy a ticket for the photo shoot, no one asked him in the cave. Hello. The family visited the Novo-Athos cave in August 2023. We came to Abkhazia one day to visit the cave and Lake Ritsa. Everyone liked it very much. The impressions are amazing. A real underground kingdom. An excellent guide - we learned a lot from the history of the cave's discovery up to the present time. Try to arrive early, as there are a lot of people who want to visit the caves during the season. And there are very few parking spaces near the entrance. We were in our car, left Imereti at 6.00, taking into account the passage of the border in New Athos, we were around 9.00. We managed to buy tickets for 9.40. There were still a few people. After leaving at about 11:00, there was a queue of about 50-60 people at the checkout. Unfortunately, due to the lack of precipitation, the cave lakes were almost shallow, but otherwise the cave views made an enthusiastic impression. If you have the opportunity to visit this place, do not miss it.
