When making a ticket, you can ask for a place where you want to sit and if there is one, you will get it for free. Passport control can be carried out both through automatic turnstiles and through the staff and you will be given an exit stamp. Duty free is normal, there is a Russian-speaking staff. A food court where you can have a snack. And yes, you can safely carry water and no one takes it from you, both in plastic and in cans.

We flew through Sharjah in April 2024. On arrival, it's just creepy: a huge queue at passport control for an hour, where most of the passengers are Pakistanis and Hindus. Our experience of staying in the departure area was not very pleasant, because we got into a period of flooding of roads from heavy rains. But if we abstract from this situation, then there is a normal airport, but there is not enough organization when passing a large number of passengers.

I was barefoot in sandals during the inspection. There are small buckles on the shoes, because of which the frame beeped. I was forced to take off my shoes so that the shoes would pass in the tray. They didn't give me shoe covers, they didn't let me get socks out of my backpack - they said "Go like that." Forced to walk barefoot on a dirty floor!!!!
This has never happened to me anywhere, in any other country, or at any other airport! Usually they either give you shoe covers or allow you not to take off your shoes, because it's already clear that the frame peeped on the buckles of the sandals, and there is no crime in this.

Everything is fine except passport control on arrival. Majestic Arabs are unhurried, smiling only at each other, despite the huge queue from several planes, after each visitor they find time to joke with each other and exchange a few sentences.
As for the departure, we were registered 4 hours before the flight, they didn't find fault with anything, they even put us together at the window without extra charges, they openly let water and a snack in our hand luggage.
By the way, the prices of food for the airport are quite the same as outside it, without a rise in price, as with us.
