The scenic road runs near the Psyrtskha riverbed.A very holy place. At the request of the couple, she brought them from Moscow to New Athos. When I first entered the grotto of Simon the Cananite, I felt it with my soul..Inexplicably.. Involuntarily tears from the eyes. On my return from an excursion that I have been conducting for several years .My most cherished wish is coming true! Be sure to visit this place!!!

Not everyone will be able to live in such conditions for 2 years, although there is a magnificent nature around. Only holy people.

Hello, the general impression is a quiet horror. Religion is the opium of the people. The ticket price is 300 adults. 150 children. The nature itself is beautiful, there are no words, BUT to give 1350 for 2 adults and Children 13, 16 years old + 5 year old child. In short, it's just a walk in the park.....THAT'S IT! 17.06.2023 And parking is still paid...But I won't tell you how much yet

A very strong place. The energy is felt. The nature is stunningly beautiful, everything is green and there are many waterfalls. Relatively few tourists, few people know about this part of Mount Athos😉😊

In general, Abkhazia is very beautiful and atmospheric, including in the park where the grotto and the cave of Simon Kananita are located, although the entrance costs some unrealistic 400 rubles per person, but everything is very clean, tidy, and more careful on the stone steps, I slipped - I almost broke the phone)))

This place is amazing with the beauty of nature, and this place evokes very strong emotions among believers. The grandfather attendant from the Grotto told an interesting story about the ray of light that sometimes illuminates this place.

A very powerful place… It's worth going through, even in the heat… Pick up comfortable shoes, take with you a container for water, candles, and notes… Christ is among us🙏🏻

An incredible place! The nature is simply fabulous! Emotions were overwhelming, I wanted to remember every corner. The road is very comfortable. We went up to the Grotto with 3 children, the youngest is 5 years old, she did a great job.

There are very beautiful places around. The Grotto itself is rather unsettled and ascetic: actually, as it should be a grotto. It is quite easy to climb into the grotto; it may be due to the presence of a hollow in the shade of which you can easily hide from the scorching sun. Also, the Psyrtskha River flows along the bottom of the hollow, which gave the name of the station, which is located in front of the entrance to the reserve: contrary to popular opinion, the station is operational. Not that it is very striking, but there is garbage at the entrance to the reserve, as well as on the rise. When choosing a place for a photo shoot, and there are a lot of them here, you involuntarily stumble upon all kinds of human footprints: not as good-looking as a Cananite foot. It is very depressing that even in such a beautiful place people find a place for their base qualities. A place like this - rich in its nature, calm, where you can relax and take a break from the hustle and bustle of the city, listen to the murmur of water, rustling foliage, birdsong; more responsible management is needed. The protection, cleaning, maintenance and development of tourist infrastructure requires more experience and responsibility from the staff.

A magnificent park with a waterfall, a mysterious grotto, the entrance to the park from the Pscyrkha station, another important attraction of Abkhazia! And next to the station is the famous man-made waterfall. The place is a fire, just a cluster of beauties and significant Abkhazian sights!

A walk along the trail is worth it. And the grotto itself is not particularly well maintained, although there is a caretaker present.

I highly recommend it to believers. There are many beautiful places along the way, many beautiful photos were taken. The cave is at the very top, you can pray on your own, or you can wait for the attendant in this place and with him.

A secret place. The road is very beautiful. It's better to walk slowly, so plan more time for a walk. Do not forget to buy candles at the entrance to the territory of the theory (with an entrance fee)

It's an amazing place. The gorge of the Ptsyrsha River leads very picturesquely to the grotto. Fabulous nature. Places of the Saint's sermons. The grotto itself has the strongest energy. The place is salted. I once sat for several hours at the foot of the grotto at the bottom of the cave. I recommend it to everyone. Take a tour.

The cave - grotto of Simon Kananita is located on an elevation near the Psyrtskha River. According to legend, one of the twelve apostles of Jesus Christ, Simon the Zealot (or Cananite), lived in this place. He is revered as an educator of Abkhazia, who worked hard to spread Christian teaching and preaching. Initially, it was the cell in which Simon Kananit lived. Later it became a chapel. There are many different icons on its walls, among which the most revered is the image of Simon the Cananite, made of mosaics. Visitors to the cave can pray, read the akathist, talk to the caretaker and get comfort and answers to their questions. According to your faith, you will be rewarded!

The most beautiful place, powerful energy. It is reached by a narrow staircase made of stones, quite high and not easy to climb there. But when you go up there, there is not a single regret that you overcame such a path.

We went with a company after the temple to commune with the holy places and plunge into the holy spring, which unfortunately was dried up in September, but in general the waterfall and the gorge evoke a sense of a place of power, it was not for nothing that the ascetics chose such territories for communion😇

I highly recommend visiting for those who believe and need support. The path to the cave is incredibly beautiful. In the cave, you will be very lucky if you meet a local minister there, who has been reading a prayer service there every day for 20 years.

In hot weather, it is pleasant to walk along a shady path , there is a place for swimming in the river, a cool , delicious spring. The cave and the temple are atmospheric , salty places . In the temple, the minister will prompt and tell for the ignorant how to pray and ask St. Simon the Canaanite.

Beautiful nature all around. Everything is green. In the cell itself, one feels that the place is salted, bright, and clean. It was hard to get up in the heat. Some dipped into the spring. But the water seemed icy to me. I didn't risk such temperature fluctuations.

This is a very beautiful park, firstly, the air is amazing, the silence and the singing of birds. And a holy place for believers, secondly. When you reach the cell of Simon the Canaanite, you first wonder how it was possible to live here alone? And then an understanding of why the apostle chose such a place.. I advise you to definitely visit here

A beautiful path, along the river, past moss-covered trees, steps, benches, etc. Not far away, with a climb up the hill to the grotto of the saint. Both the child and the old man will pass. In the rain, it can be slippery on rocky areas. There is a very strong energy in the grotto, be sure to ask Simon about the secret.

I don't know how to evaluate such places, it's great in a word, the sharp rise in front of the grotto, the rest is expensive to overcome easily, in August the coolness from the river helped a lot

The road to the grotto goes through a picturesque gorge, in the grotto itself you can put candles and feel the spirit of the shrine. However, the ascent to the grotto is steep, it should be remembered by people with limited motor abilities and not as much ascent as the reverse descent

After reading the old reviews, we decided to go to the grotto, see what is so interesting there. We were right there. Entrance is paid, on June 20, 2022 200 rubles per person, + 50 rubles (in a group of 10 people) for an excursion. A digression for the tour. To be honest, it is not worth it, although small, but generally its cost. It's very short and not interesting. The place itself is pleasant, but there is, to be honest, exactly the same nature as before entering there. There is nothing more religious than an imprint there. Like all the grottoes that you are advised to go through. Going up there, you will realize how much you have done all the way up the terrible stairs in vain. The conclusion is that there is nothing special, it is better to save money and buy souvenirs, or eat.

A BEAUTIFUL ABANDONED WORLD! This is the feeling that this place gave me. If only I could be here all alone, without a lot of other people! Walking along the rocky path along the mountain river Psyrdzha (translated as "fir spring"), the eyes enjoy the riot of greenery overgrown with ivy. Beauty! The grotto itself is also interesting - a three-apse temple carved into the rock - a unique monument of ancient architecture

After you have arrived at New Athos, take the time to visit the Monastery of Simon the Canonite, and then on the way you will go up to the Grotto (rather a cave) on the path there will be a trace of Simon the Canonite on the stone, Then the place where he was killed (there in the stream everyone collects pebbles with red inclusions it is believed that this is the frozen blood of Simon the Canonite). And then there will be the Grotto of Simon the Canonite, carefully climb the steps they are very steep in the grotto itself it is very stuffy (because of the candles), it is dark and there is little space. There is a very picturesque nature all around while you visit spiritual values. I recommend that you go there and you won't regret it.

A very peaceful place in the depths of the trees. To get into the grotto, you need to climb the old stone steps. In the first grotto it is cool and quiet, in the second sometimes spiritual music sounds, candles are burning near the icons.

A very beautiful place! I advise you to visit. The road is not difficult. Take some water and a couple of sandwiches with you. Go and enjoy the beauty of the stream and the surrounding countryside first. Then a holy place. I advise you to swim in the stream on the way back. It's invigorating. I also advise you to climb up the steps and go back down the gentle part when you go down the steps from the topmost cave for two flights, turn left and follow the path.
