Let's start in order, first you need to decide which ride you want for daytime, night after lunch or all day, then buy a ticket at the ticket office, it costs more than at the rental next to the left of the ticket office. Moreover, the tariff starts working simply by time, for example, in the morning from 8:30 to 13:30, and not like on other ski slopes from the moment you pass through the turnstile if you have an hourly rate. Next, in the equipment rental: don't look at their designations of Bronze, Silver and Gold, no matter how much we tried to take new top-class equipment, as they claim new, we were given old boards with blunt maps and a scratched slide. Be prepared that you will be asked to tie a safety rope to your snowboard, which is asked on small slopes, but on larger slopes they don't even look at whether it is there or not, so first you bought it from them at an inadequate price of 3000 and rode on top without it, so just take a meter of rope with you and show it on the first ascent. Also, due to the fact that there are a couple of places where you can eat, prices are unreasonably high, respectively.
To make it more interesting for you to ride somewhere off-piste and so that you are not terrorized by the resort's security, then buy two-channel walkie-talkies like us and you will communicate with each other and hear the ski workers so that you know when and where to go through the woods or off the highway, and there is no problem finding out the wave on which they communicate.

We paid for the loss of the skis (the amount of the deposit + about 30% of the deposit). But the next day they called us, said they had found the skis during the detour, we arrived, and we were refunded the amount we had paid for the loss.

That's where ski rental prices were more affordable, without any cash deposits, and there were always the right sizes. Dear administration, resolve this issue, please. I am a beginner skier, I have been skiing for 4 seasons. I skated in Serbia, in Kapaonika and in Dombai. The place is beautiful, I came here on the recommendations of friends and acquaintances. The worst thing I've experienced here is a very disgusting rental service. I've never had to wait so long for a rental anywhere. The wait was 2 hours. At the same time, out of 4 working windows, 2 were working and another one sometimes started working. Equipment was rented out through the same windows. You can take equipment of the bronze, silver and gold class. As a result, it's the same thing, only the makings are different. The equipment is heavily worn, the edges are not sharpened. As a result, the child's skis were adjusted to 27 kg instead of 40, they were constantly unfastened on the slope, it was agony. The slopes are good, and so are the lifts. What will I do when I come again - I will take skis to Almaty, rent them - they are much cheaper, faster and more attentive, or I will bring them with me, which is much better. The resort itself is excellent, the slopes are prepared in the morning and evening, ski passes for morning, afternoon and evening skiing. The views are beautiful when it is especially sunny. In general, the resort would be rated well. To ride all day, choose a hotel closer to Medeo. It takes a lot of time from Almaty, at least an hour round trip and a lot of traffic jams. She has been skating since childhood and has visited more than 10 different resorts, but she has never seen such a terrible concentration of people who cannot skate.
People are sitting in the center of the highway. The snowboarders are just paddling on the back edge at breakneck speed. And there are such "individuals" who just go shopping from the highest highway. It's definitely not worth going with children, it's too dangerous.
The local "administration" says that you can't wear a board/ski in certain places, and it doesn't put things in order on the track at all!!

Pros: beautiful nature, decent preparation of the slopes. The queue is very well organized, even at the peak of the new year, there is not a very large queue. In Medeo, they waited 35 minutes in line for the descent. It's not much.
Minuses:
1. The cash registers work strangely - you can't buy a skipass for a few days.
2. It is impossible to rent a storage room for several days, so I had to drive from the hotel to Almaaty with equipment every day
3. Annoying behavior of pedestrians in the queue on the lift: almost everyone! the father pushes his children forward between the skis, and then pushes the skiers himself with the words that he has a child there. Moreover, this is not an isolated example, but is of a massive nature. It looks like a strange and unpleasant local feature
4. The steep skipass transmission control system fails: the child has a skipass in his inner pocket, but it was blocked allegedly for transferring it to another. Apparently, either it works from a distance and the passage of another person in the queue is fixed, or clones of cards are used. You can unlock it only in the information center
5. The cards are demagnetized for no apparent reason, being always in the sleeve. As a result, they are forced to buy the card again. It's a small thing, but it's unpleasant.
6. There are a lot of stones on the slope - in 3 days of skiing, the skis are specifically broken even despite careful skiing

The first one came to the rental, apparently there were no problems with queues. I was among the first to arrive on the slope and found corduroy.
I used the services of an instructor, explained everything clearly and helped with the first steps in alpine skiing.
There 's nothing to do there on weekends . Lots of people, queues everywhere! I came only on weekdays in the morning.
I will definitely come there again!!!

A great place for outdoor activities. Good trails for skiing or snowboarding for both beginners and pros. We rented skis on the Shymkent subway with a silver status, skis and boots are normal. By the way, it is better to pay for skiing with a Ski pass from the Shymkent app on your phone, the price is 20% cheaper. There are cafes at the very top of 3200 meters. On a simple day, there are not many people, on Saturday and Sunday, of course, you will have to stand in line. Especially if you get ready to go home by closing time, it will be just a kick-ass. Therefore, it is better to leave a little earlier.
We lived in the Namaste hotel and liked it for its fabulousness and mystery. We had lunch and dinner at the hotel, a good breakfast was included. We got to Shymkent by eco taxi for 2000 tenge, it takes five minutes to drive from the hotel. The rest was great, I want to come back again.

In my opinion, Shymkent is a worthy alpine skier. A short drive from the city center. It's easy to call a taxi. And there are buses. There are coffee shops. Warm cabins of the funicular. Good slopes. This is the only ski resort of this size that does not have a guide with categories of trails at all. It makes you worry for the first time. It's just a disgusting rental organization. Even when there are few people, the registration of the lease takes a very long time. I arrived at Shimbulak on a weekday at 10-30, took the skis only at 14-40 (I was in line all the time), at 17-00 it is already necessary to take them, although the lift works until 18-00. It is not possible to book a rental, which makes the visit a lottery. To sum up, it is quite comfortable with your equipment both on weekdays and on weekends, if you want to use the rental then only on weekdays and preferably by the opening, otherwise you will stand in line in a stuffy room for hours.

There are observation decks at the first transfer station, many restaurants and cafes. There are also toilets. On the second transfer there is a restaurant and a cafe with an observation deck. There was no restaurant at the very top (it burned down and was being restored). Unfortunately, there was no cafe either. Sadly. Pitot wanted to, but there was nothing to buy. It was the first time in Kazakhstan, and I managed to visit Shymkent.
A fairly modern resort, long descent, good snow.
Prices relative to Russian resorts are very reasonable. If the flight was also inexpensive, then it would be possible to fly every year.
However, Almaty airport is a return to 1970, I haven't seen this for a long time.
There are 3 ways to get to the resort:
1. By electric taxi for 3000 tenge
2. On the lift
3. On foot
The lift to the top consists of two parts, the glacier is visible from above and you can move down to the other side of the mountain.
The restaurants and cafes are very good, the prices are reasonable, the food quality is good.
On some days there is night skiing, the track is illuminated by floodlight towers.
The sun on the top is evil, you can burn out in a couple of hours, you definitely need to protect yourself.
I recommend the resort to all snow lovers, but take your own equipment, the rental is not very good.
