A wonderful walk, for those who are interested. I enjoyed walking up from the ticket office in 2022. Nearby there is a small parking lot for cars, it is written for a fee, but they did not take the money. Then only on foot, almost 1.5 km. The road is serpentine, the ascent is quite steep. Upstairs, as a prize, you can still climb into the Tower, with a magnificent view of the city, the sea, the valley.

It's hard to get there, but it's definitely worth a visit, at least because of the beautiful view of New Athos and the sea. At the moment, they are engaged in the reconstruction of the fortress structures. There is a paid parking (100 rubles) from which you will need to climb on foot to the fortress itself, and its visit costs 200 rubles per person.

Anakopian fortress. A very interesting and attractive place. Every stone breathes history. The ascent took 25-30 minutes on foot in rainy weather. There is a well with drinking water in one of the towers at the very top, I tried it, it tastes great. The location of the well at the very top of the mountain is very unusual. It would seem that an underground spring could come from there ... From the top there are stunning views of New Athos, the sea, the monastery, the mountains. It is a must to visit!

It took 4 hours to walk there and back (from Changba Street), but it was worth it!
They cut the road after the entrance gate - they had already trampled paths over the stones in the shade)
We went up with a child of 6 years old, everything is safe, everyone is alive))
Most importantly, take water with you.
When we got up, we realized what all the difficulties were for. The view is amazing. You can look forward to it.

The fortress is located high on the mountain, the climb is steep, calculate your strength. We were climbing from the shell stop and had no idea that it would be so difficult. It is better, if you are not prepared, to get to the parking lot (200 rubles from local taxi drivers) and then 10-20 minutes up). Admission is 200 rubles. But you won't get any service. The toilet is in the worst traditions of Soviet toilets)))). The views are mind-blowing. You can see the entire coast and the rural part of Abkhazia. The fortress itself may not surprise you if you have previously visited really well-preserved ones in Europe or the same fortress in Sudak.
You can go for a change. When you look at the tower and the fortress from below, there is a feeling of slight satisfaction that you were able to conquer it))). Be sure to wear comfortable shoes, clothes, a hat, glasses and water! Especially if you go up the serpentine from the cave or village

I liked this fortress the most of all the sights of Abkhazia. We went up completely on foot, walked through the village on the mountain, it is very interesting to see how people live, you can buy juice, water, pastries from someone along the way. The Anakop fortress tower is 344 m above sea level. I recommend climbing, but only in the morning and only with water. It will be hard for small children. Entrance is paid at the entrance 200, children 100. The views are gorgeous, you can see the whole of New Athos and the coast.
