an amazing place, I advise fans of the Middle Ages to visit, every meter of the rise is saturated with history. But, for those who are indifferent to history, it's just a pleasant walk with beautiful views

Inexplicably, the well is at the very top of the mountain. If you climb the Anakopian fortress, do not forget to bring a container for the purest, cold water.

Recommended place to visit. The only thing you will have to visit yourself, because tour companies do not take you here (or only "personal" excursions).
It takes ~ 3 hours to visit (climbing the mountain + inspection + photo + descent).

A place with the most beautiful view of the surrounding area. The old fortress gives a special charm to this place. You can climb the observation deck tower, the highest point here. Everything is refined and adapted for a pleasant pastime, although rough, but safe. You need to climb on foot and it will seem hard to someone, but it's worth it. We were there twice. The first time with a six-month-old child in her arms, the second, the next year, with a one-and-a-half-year-old, respectively. Fear has big eyes! Go ahead and you won't regret it.

The fortress stands on a mountain, and the ascent there is not easy at all: first along an asphalt road, then along a forest with tree roots and stones. Somewhere in the middle of the way there is a ticket booth, you pay 200 rubles just for visiting without any excursions. Going upstairs, you die of thirst and are saved by holy water from an inexhaustible well (there are even mugs and ladles). The ruins of the temple and other buildings are located in the fortress. The most beautiful view of the city and the coast opens from the upper platform of the Eastern Tower, which can be reached by an internal staircase. The tower is closed at 20-00, and you can walk around the territory without restrictions, but it is problematic to go down the mountain in complete darkness (we shone the phone, stumbled and tore our sandals).

Excellent, be sure to visit at least once. Hoary antiquity and antiquity. It is a pity that the Orthodox artifacts from the altar were removed to the museum.

An ancient defensive fortress on the Anakopian (Iverian) mountain. The beginning of the construction of the first line dates back to the Vll century. Later, other lines of fortifications were erected. Currently, the fortress belongs to the Anakopia Nature Reserve, its entrance to the territory is paid. Visitors' funds are used for restoration, garbage collection, and maintaining cleanliness and order. The difference between what was here ten years ago and what is now is very noticeable. With a "+" sign.
The road to the fortress goes uphill along a serpentine. It is better to get up early in the morning or in the evening, after the heat subsides. I walk from the Novo-Athos cave, ignoring the taxi drivers' offers to take me to the observation deck. The pictures are magnificent! There is a watchtower at the very top of the Anakopian fortress. And in the depths there is an Orthodox chapel of the Iveron Icon of the Mother of God and the ruins of an ancient temple. There are many icons in the chapel, and leaves with texts of prayers and akathists are on the table. There is even a book with a liturgical text and a prayer song to the Mother of God. It is intended for priests, monks and pilgrims who come here to pray. Bring health notes here and leave them on the table. The priests will pray for your loved ones. Candles can be purchased downstairs at the entrance to the chapel. The handkerchief and apron are issued by the caretaker.
Bring bottles or containers for holy water from the Inexhaustible Well.
Despite the long journey to the top of the Anakopian Fortress (12 stops!), remember that all these difficulties can be overcome. The reward for all the trials will be an extraordinary feeling of joy, lightness and awe. Be sure to visit this wonderful place.

Excellent view from the very height of the fortress. The only drawback is walking uphill for a long time. It's hard with small children. Also, do not forget to change your shoes. Don't walk in shales.

It's a beautiful place. It is located on the top of the Iverskaya mountain, which offers beautiful views. We went up ourselves, it turned out to be very difficult, the advice is to take a taxi costs 100-200 rubles, save 30 minutes for climbing and most importantly strength, they will be useful to you for climbing from the ticket office to the fortress itself (another 20 minutes), but it is already easier to use serpentine paths with a slight slope. There is a spring with drinking water in the fortress, very tasty. Entrance is 250 rubles for adults and 50 rubles for children. The cafe is only near the cash register. I recommend.
