An excellent hotel with a convenient location close to all major tourist destinations. If you choose a room with a view of the monastery, then there is also a magnificent view from the balcony. But the rooms with windows to the courtyard turned out to be not very comfortable, the generator is constantly running in the backyard, it is very noisy, unfortunately we did not manage to rest, next time we will take only a room on the other side. But the hotel has a very good restaurant, they have incredibly delicious Boats. Therefore, we will definitely return there again

Yes, thin walls, well, here's a question for loud neighbors. The towels are white, they were changed as stated. The room is clean. The shower cabin is cramped, not for big people. Special thanks to the girls from the restaurant for their warmth and cordiality. And everything was delicious. Breakfasts are huge portions) coffee is delicious! Who's going for what-I was going to rest! If you find fault, then not to Abkhazia. It is beautiful even without the service that everyone is always complaining about.

This is a great hotel! We lived on the 3rd floor. All the equipment was working properly. The reception staff is pleasant and friendly. WiFi works well on the ground floor and on the staircase, in worse rooms, but it also loads. We had a rest with four families and everyone was satisfied. WiFi is weak, children sit on the stairs where the Internet works. In the evenings, live music in the hotel restaurant until 23 o'clock. Those who love silence, you need to choose a different hotel. The kettle is the cheapest in the room, there are no tea spoons or forks. They clean well, the bed linen is clean. The electricity was turned off 2 times, but it was quickly turned on, because there is a generator. We went to the hotel opposite for breakfast. We had a rest with a friend from 26.06-06.07.2024. We are very satisfied. The hotel is beautiful, well-maintained territory. The room has two beds, a TV, a refrigerator, air conditioning, shelves where you can place all sorts of small things, a wardrobe. A water jug and two glasses. There is no kettle. Hot water on the ground floor. In the cooler. There is no elevator. The luggage was helped by the receptionist on duty, so there were no problems with this.
There is an open terrace on the roof, with sofas and armchairs, the view is amazing. To the sea, a quiet walk of 7-10 minutes, along the way cafes, canteens, a shop, a spontaneous market with fruits, cheeses and all sorts of souvenirs. Within walking distance of everything that people come to see paying money for excursions. New Athos Monastery, waterfall, beautiful park with peacocks and swans, caves.
Linen was changed twice, towels every other day, wet cleaning every day. Shower cabin, hair dryer. There are two irons and ironing boards on the floor.
The beach is sand, the entrance to the sea is pebbles, special shoes are needed. Sun beds for 200 rubles, an umbrella for 50.

Last year, my husband and I decided to visit this beautiful country, which we fell in love with after a tour of the golden ring of Abkhazia from Sochi. We chose the Griffin Hotel because its location suited us. It is located near places such as a man-made waterfall, Psyrtskha station, a mountain river flows by. It seemed to us that this was a quiet and secluded place. How wrong we were! The rooms are all old, but, in principle, neat and clean, the furniture is old, the mattresses are worn to holes, springs stick out in some places. Showers with broken doors. The room was given above the restaurant. At first we thought it seemed, but then we were convinced that there were no fleas in the room!!! They jumped on their feet, on the bed, the floors are light and therefore they are very clearly visible. The next day we reported this at the reception, the administrator, probably it was him, promised to kill fleas, although it is not possible to withdraw such an amount at one time and day! And it would have been more correct to move us to another room, but nevertheless they did not even apologize to us and did not offer another room. They acted like I was crazy, where did we get fleas from?. But this question is already for you, because why would I lie when the tour was booked six months in advance for 14 nights through a travel agency, i.e. the option to refund the money and move to another hotel is not possible in principle. The cost of accommodation, without meals, with flight and transfer is about 106 thousand rubles. for two. When we went for a walk, the workers allegedly processed our room.. naturally, this did not help. By the next day, I was already at the limit, my legs were all bitten, plus the restaurant below us is generally some kind of hell. The music screams so that we didn't listen to ourselves. And so on until the last customer, i.e. until late at night. Early in the morning I had to go down rather rudely to demand to solve the flea situation. There was another man at the reception who was just the epitome of contempt for all people, and then there were such ridiculous pretexts. He was joined by a woman who began to convince me that this could not be. Why do it, or they thought I was enjoying it. In general, after a certain amount of rudeness, yesterday's employee appeared and said that we would be given a new number, but after he was released. The room was given a different one, on the other side, i.e. the view was to the courtyard, there was no noise of the restaurant. I bought dichlophos in the store and processed it myself, because I was afraid that we would bring fleas from that room. In general, the rest was irrevocably ruined. The rooms are all very poorly soundproofed, you can easily hear what the neighbors are talking about without listening. There is nothing in the room except a refrigerator and glasses. No water, no kettle. There are no rooms on the ground floor, a very steep staircase leads to the top. There is a large Thermopot on the street below, and cups, If you want to drink tea in the room, you will have to carry cups of boiling water up the stairs. Of course, there is no elevator either, we were not offered to lift the suitcase to the room. Themselves. There is absolutely nothing there for children. there is a slide with a descent to a stone path. No apologies, Prices in cafes and restaurants cosmos, for example, breakfast of pancakes, scrambled eggs and a couple of coffees costs an average of 400-500 rubles for two people. Lunch of the first and second course, salad 1000 rubles. Problems with toilets are in principle in Abkhazia. On the beaches there are two sun beds with an umbrella - 700 rubles. This is on the beach, which is away from the center, where sometimes they swim, sorry, poop, there is no toilet on the beach, in principle, it is located across the street, and it is not easy for a person who does not know to find it. it looks like a rustic toilet, i.e. a hole in the floor. I don't know how people with children solved this problem. Abkhazia is how lucky you are. we were unlucky, I think, but the desire to go has disappeared forever. And even it's not about money, when you're welcome, you part with money easily, and when there are dissatisfied faces of local residents, employees of shops and hotels at every step, it becomes uncomfortable and you want to leave there faster. Personally, I strongly advise against holidays in Abkhazia for people with children or those who are used to comfort, because this is not there. I can't say anything about hospitality either, we weren't lucky with that either.

Yes, the hotel is perfectly located, everything is nearby, but crowds of tourists, huge bus tours, minibuses, taxis, cars fill the entire street until late in the evening.
But the most terrible thing is the music in the restaurant on the ground floor of the hotel. The music is screaming in the street, the visitors are also trying to hear each other and are also yelling.
There is no cleaning every day and it is absolutely formal. They dragged some kind of terrible rag in our room and went on to carry it with them. The pillow is all lumps, I don't know what year it was born. The change of bed linen has not been white for a long time on the fifth day.
The strongest impression of audibility in the rooms. The idea is interesting to build a wooden hotel, but then it was necessary to make sound insulation. I can hear everything! How neighbors talk, use the toilet and shower, watch TV, plug into an outlet, you can hear someone throwing up, this is a test of course.
It is better to pay extra, but not to come here to spoil your vacation.

We were in the restaurant of this hotel. Wonderful cuisine! Perhaps the best restaurant in New Athos. The price tag is 15 percent higher than the average for establishments, but the cuisine, serving and portion size are worth it. And they were not upset, because they often went out in a towel to sit on the balcony under coffee in the evening or at lunch. Fewer eyes on us. The balcony also overlooks the parking lot, our car was under supervision. I think that everyone will get a parking space, you don't have to worry about it. In addition, the hotel has a through exit, and one way or another, you will see your car. On the balcony we had 1 plastic chair, a dryer, another chair, I just took it out of the room, and calmly rested with the guy and watched the clouds gather over the mountain every evening. I repeat, there is 1 adult in the room plus 1 adult in the extra seat))) there was a cot, but because my boyfriend is big, the cot is more for a child. We could comfortably fit in 1 bed. In addition, it was important that the room had a balcony. No one will give you a guarantee through the tour operator that you will get an ennl with him, therefore I recommend contacting the owner directly. A little life hack for you. One more thing, our room was on the second floor, but the stairs are steep enough, it's true))))) but what a beautiful one))) as for the sound insulation, we didn't hear anyone at all, maybe because there was a staircase behind the wall, and on the other side there was a room where various things of the maids were stored. In general, I do not recommend this room, take it with a balcony and preferably with a street view.

It's good that we settled on the 2nd floor, it's really not very difficult to climb the steep steps after you walk up in a day.

For 5 days and 3 people put 2 shower gels, 1 shampoo and 3 soaps, in principle, for me it was not arch important, but still.
The shower stall has a black mold. Bedbugs, beetles and other insects were periodically chased.
Most of all, I was struck by the cleaning, it was just to take out the garbage from the room. Upon arrival, the dust was on the beds, shelves, only the table was wiped. You can see for yourself about the space under the bed.
The result is that the hotel probably corresponds to its stars.

In principle, it was clear that 46,000 for 9 nights in a comfort room is not the price for which you can get something impressive. On the other hand, it's without breakfast, plus hundreds of rave reviews. In short, it became very, very interesting, and I went there.
In principle, the hotel fits perfectly into the average in Abkhazia. I've been to much more expensive places where everything was exactly the same, so I don't feel any negativity, but self-irony overwhelms me.
The biggest complaint is the catastrophically dirty and uncomfortable bathroom. It was small, with obviously long-term garbage in the corners and a mop of black mold in the shower stall. In my room, the shelf was also broken off: place the accessories wherever you want. The lone Band-Aid that met me in the dusty corner outside the door at check-in has become almost my family for the entire 9 days.
Secondly, there was only one plastic, extremely suspicious-looking chair on the balcony, which was just creepy to sit in.
And only in third place is the amazing audibility in the rooms (the WHOLE hotel is made of glued beams - it's beautiful, but the sound spreads amazingly! there is some kind of noise insulation only between the floors), and especially from the Griffin restaurant. I don't understand how you can eat in a place with such a volume of music! Don't do that. I would like to hear the other person at dinner. By the way, a girl with a wonderful voice sings live in the restaurant in the evenings, which somewhat reconciled with the volume level.
Well, in small things: mismatched bed linen, extremely unobtrusive cleaning and well-worn (though comfortable) mattresses.

It is considered one of the best hotels in New Athos. We had a rest in September.
Advantages:
Beautiful view from the room on the river, cypresses, New Athos monastery.
All the sights are nearby. The street is quiet, there are few cars, near the market.
A restaurant with delicious natural food, an average check of 1000 rubles.
The room has air conditioning.
Disadvantages:
The stairs are steep with a large number of steps in the march - just a simulator for preparing for excursions and moving along the mountain ranges of the area.
The Internet is good only in the lobby, in general, the speed is low and the transmission is constantly interrupted when everyone wakes up and it is impossible to use it in the evening.
The cleaning in the room was nominal and consisted in scattering garbage in the corners, as a result, in 10 days a layer of dust under the beds, the toilet and shower were not washed once, a layer of dust on the shelves, toilet paper was put on, towels and linen were changed, the maid smiled with all her mouth and happily greeted (waiting for a tip, but not for what to give...)
Shower cabins are mildewed in the corners, it doesn't look like they are being washed.
Because of the music from the restaurant, it is impossible to stay in the room until 23 pm, a hell of a test instead of rest. For level restaurants, such loud music is unacceptable, it is impossible to shout too much to order food. It is very difficult to relax in the rooms with such a noise level in the evening. The neighboring cafes also turn on full volume, all the sounds are mixed up, it's terrible ((( instead of resting, you get stress.
The noise insulation in the rooms is low, the neighbors often swore, which caused great discomfort.
The light in the yard is bright, the curtains do not block it from the sides and from above, you sleep as if with the light on.
Waitresses in the restaurant work like "slaves on galleys", seven days a week from 9 am to late at night, which indicates a critically unacceptable attitude of the employer to the staff, disrespect for women working in the hotel and restaurant. Perhaps this is a mentality, but it would be nicer to see care for your people, especially women.

There are also disadvantages - lack of sound insulation, steep stairs, a small shower cabin, ants in the room. As I understand it, so everywhere in RA, the service is just beginning to develop. Wi-Fi is good, there is a clothes dryer on the balcony, a blackboard and an iron in the corridor. There is no kettle in the room, but it is not particularly needed. In the evenings, the restaurant can be noisy until 23.00, we don't like noise, so we went to dinner in neighboring cafes. The hotel meets the criterion of price - quality for Abkhazia and personally I liked it here more than in 5* in Alanya. I am not sure that I will return to this hotel, but I will definitely return to New Athos.

Хорошее расположение, недалеко море и местные достопримечательности. Приветливый персонал, есть собственная парковка. Из минусов: нет лифта, лестница не совсем удобная, все номера начинаются со 2 по 4 этаж. Пастельное белье и полотенца, уже совсем уставшие, местами в дырках и с жёлтыми пятнами. Плохая шумоизоляция, т.к. здание из дерева, сверху соседей очень хорошо слышно. Рядом протекает речка, с одной стороны, слышно шум, особенно утром мешает. Плохо работает Wi-Fi. Номера комфортные, кровати 2, можно рядом соединить или наоборот развести. Внизу есть ресторан и живая музыка вечером, цены приемлемые, по качеству не знаю.

Отличный отель. Жили в 2хкомнатном люксе. Мебель не новая, но все частенько. Персонал встречает хорошо. Хорошая стоянка для машины. Во дворе неплохая детская площадка. Красивый вид на горную реку. Во дворе всегда прохладно. Достопримечательности в шаговой доступности. Единственное, очень крутая лестница. Нужно быть аккуратнее с детьми.
Пляж в 7 минутах дожьбы через кафешки и магазинчик. В отеле прекрасный ресторан. Еда очень вкусная, ценовая политика очень приемлемая. Мы даже не куда кушать не ходили, только в отеле. Все блюда отличные. Советуем.

We rested at the hotel in July 2023. The location of the Griffon Hotel is excellent!!!! To the sea 10 minutes through the cypress alley and Park. Nearby all the sights :waterfall, Novoafon monastery, Novoafon cave, Anakopian fortress, Simon the Canonite grotto (the whole territory is a forest and a stormy river), Psyrtskha station (as picturesque, birds sing-God's grace!!!). The territory of the hotel is clean, well-groomed, in the evening it is very beautifully illuminated!!!! The wooden building is four storeys high. On the 4th floor there is a huge recreation area, and what a view from there. The room has everything : table, wardrobe, bedside tables, chairs, TV, split, heater, refrigerator, most importantly a balcony! From the balcony - a gorgeous view!!! The noise of the rushing stream from the waterfall sounds so divine!!! The bathroom has everything you need, even a hairdryer. Ironing boards in the hallway 2 pcs. The staff and administration are very polite and positive people, thank them very much!!! I didn't want to leave so much, but we will definitely come back!!!!

Nice hotel, stayed overnight. Everything is wooden inside, it looks like a bathhouse)) but in general it is clean, cozy, everything you need in the room (hairdryer, towels, refrigerator, TV) the shower cabin is slightly shabby, but working. Audibility is present. The view from the window was to the courtyard, to its closed parking lot. Just for our car. There is a wonderful cafe - restaurant downstairs, khachapuri is super, khinkali too) I recommend, the prices are reasonable. I stayed at the hotel in July 2023. For me, the biggest plus of the hotel is the availability of comfortable single rooms at an adequate price! This is very rare for Abkhazia. The room has a refrigerator, air conditioning, clean bathroom, balcony, large wardrobe, comfortable bed. The hotel is in the very center of New Athos, probably there is no more convenient location! The staff is helpful! Many thanks to the administrator Alan for paying attention to my wishes when booking, everything was taken into account. There is no kettle in the room, you can bring your own or take boiling water on the ground floor. There were red ants, I knew about it, so I put all the food in the refrigerator. This solved the problem. There are many places of food for every taste and budget near the hotel. There are only positive impressions about the trip to Abkhazia! I will definitely come again!

Всем добрый день. Отдыхали в Гриффоне в июне 2023. Отель находится в самом сердце Нового Афона, недалеко все достопримечательности, куда можно дойти пешком. Место очень красивое, шикарная природа. Сам отель сделан из дерева, что создаёт определённый коларит и шикарно вписывается в окружающую природу. Уютные номера, есть всё, что надо, удобная кровать, холодильник, свой санузел, телевизор, правда очень маленький, графин, 2 стакана, тарелка, фен, шампунь, гель для душа, мыло, пополняют по мере необходимости. За 10 дней , один раз поменяли полотенца и постельное бельё 😞, уборка слабенькая, пыль не протирали совсем, лестницы крутые, для людей с больными ногами не подойдёт, сильно слышно, что происходит в соседних номерах, минус, что три ресторана рядом и музыка перемешивается , кто кого переорет , жаль, но это до 23, дальше тихо, нас не напрягало. При отеле есть ресторан, где вкусно готовят, завтракали в нем, красивая подача блюд, девочки стараются. В Ближайшие города можно доехать общественным транспортом , Гагры 250 руб., Сухум 150руб., ездили, погуляли, посмотрели. Пляжей много, море чистое и тёплое, лежаки 200-250 руб., бунгало 1000 на день. Рядом с отелем готовят очень вкусные чебуреки, рекомендую 😉 Возле дороги , как ехать в сторону Гагры , есть кафе, где готовят лодочки, самые лучшие в Новом Афоне, рекомендую брать с соусом👍, есть несколько рынков, цены везде примерно одинаковые(рядом с отелем от водопада до моря, рядом с пещерами, рядом с вокзалом Новый Афон, вдоль дороги Грешников возле монастыря . Брали экскурсию на Рицу с застольем , очень понравилось, экскурсовод супер, первая палатка от отеля, Анна хорошо объясняет что и как, брали у неё трансфер в аэропорт, но в лучше мне кажется ехать от аэропорта до границы, а от границы до отеля и также обратно, машины очень долго проходят границу, мы ждали почти 1,5 часа🙈, сами прошли за 3 минуты. Конечно в Абхазии ещё много разрухи, но всё активно стали восстанавливать, правда и цены поднимают каждый год, но природа сказочная и есть , что посмотреть. Мы остались довольны отдыхом.😄Надеюсь мой отзыв будет полезен.

If the music gets in the way in the evening, then you close the balcony and silence. The view is awesome, one minus:If you want to sit on the balcony with coffee, come out early. The south side, the sun is scorching. But in the evening it's just fine. The room was cleaned every day, linen every 3 days. Of course, there is also a shower with blackness in the corners, the walls are not wiped. Well, 3 stars. It is strange that there is no ventilation in the bathroom, not any. I didn't find it. But it didn't bother me much. All the frames and doors in the hotel are wooden, the doors to the bedroom are skewed due to humidity. They close, but they scratch on the laminate. We had dinner in the restaurant once, the price tag is higher than in the cafe nearby, but the dishes are cooked more exquisitely, or something.Salads are not served in cafes. Everything is delicious and the portions are large. We took an e-turk with us, because I read about the thermopot. So there were no problems with coffee or tea. We rested at the Griffin hotel from August 28 to September 7. We rested in the 3rd in a 2-bed hotel .
There are no advantages .
Of the cons:
1. The shower stall is mildewed, dirty and very small.
2. Inga did the cleaning at our place around 3 p.m., smiling in her face. But cleaning has one name: I constantly asked you to clean, wiped with one rag and took out the trash, nothing was swept out, I put toilet paper every 3 days, the toilet bowl, the sink are all dirty and not cleaned.
4. The TV does not work, the sound insulation is very weak, as if they are nearby. The stairs are very steep and long.
There is no kettle . Everything creaks, the bed linen is grey , the towels are grey.
Nikopol is located on the back side of the griffin, we rested there that year, compared to the Griffin, it is much better.
Gryphon is not recommended!

Отель "Грифон" - это прекрасное место для проживания во время путешествия! Я был впечатлен высоким уровнем сервиса и гостеприимством персонала. Номера были очень чистые и уютные, современный дизайн создавал приятную атмосферу для отдыха. В отеле был отличный ресторан с превосходными блюдами и широким выбором напитков. А еще, отель расположен в очень удобном месте, рядом с достопримечательностями и общественным транспортом. The first time in Abkhazia . We are resting now at the Griffon Hotel. This is the most beautiful hotel in the heart of New Athos . All the sights and the sea are nearby . The staff is friendly, the cuisine at the hotel is varied and very tasty. Live music in the evenings . Everything is created for a comfortable and spiritual rest . Номера чистые, красивые, современные. А на крыше обалденная веранда с видами и массажными креслами! Сотрудники доброжелательны. Цены адекватные.
В ресторане при гостинице очень хорошие шашлыки, да и в целом еда. Но чуть дороже чем в соседних кафешках.
Парковка удобная на территории.
Из минусов - если окна на реку то шум от кафе рядом до 23.00 кафе это кстати советую)
В ванной не очень удобная душевая кабинка, прямо дачный вариант.
Лестница между этажами достаточно крутая, учитывайте это.

Отдыхали в этом отеле в августе 4 дня всего, все вокруг красиво бесспорно, свет отключали как и везде в Абхазии в принципе, но очень ненадолго. Отель нормальный, только дополнительное место для ребенка была раскладушка, но это мелочи.Хотелось отметить администратора молодого доброжелательного мужчину, не знаю как его зовут, но если он прочитает мой отзыв, то наверняка себя узнает.Так вот, у нас сломался чемодан, отпала ручка, муж говорит, был бы хоть какой то инструмент с собой, попробовал бы починить его.Я предложила обратиться к администратору на ресепшн, и.....о чудо нам нашли отвёртку, этот человек не отмахнулся от нас, а пошёл искать и нашел.Далее наши неприятности не закончились и ребенок подхватил ротовирус.Вот, и по случаю я проговорилась этому администратору об этом,в итоге нам он предложил врача, мы отказались, сказали что попытаемся справиться сами.Он спрашивал как здоровье у нашего ребенка, интересовался и на следующий день,предлагал помощь.Я хочу передать ему, если он читает мой отзыв, огромное спасибо за вашу человечность, оставаться всегда таким внимательным к вашим гостям, передаю вам привет и хочу сказать что доехали мы нормально, огромное вам спасибо
