We had a vacation in Sri Lanka in late November - early December 2022. A worthy place! The staff at the hotel is very polite, the food is good. Lovely pools and nice rooms. The ocean is a bit noisy, but it only made it better for us who love the wave. Of the disadvantages, except that lunch boxes (2 bananas, a bottle of water and cookies), so if you are going on an excursion, it is better to take care of breakfast additionally. For those who want to swim in calm water, tuktukers will help, take them, wait and all this for a penny. We were at this hotel in the period from 03/27/2013-04/03/2013.Frankly, I can say that the hotel does not pull even 3 stars. About everything in order: 1. The service at the reception upon check-in was not very good. The girl explained something to us for a very long time in broken English. Subsequently, another young man, apparently the main one there (tk differed in the color of the uniform) helped us with all the questions. It is not profitable to change money at the hotel, the rate is much lower than at the airport. 2. The room is nice, large in size. Cleaning is done daily, but the floor is smeared with some kind of aroma oil, to which I became allergic by the end of my vacation. Also, at the end of the vacation, a surprise awaited us in the toilet - a mustachioed fat orange cockroach. 3. Both the food and the service at the hotel are disgusting. For breakfast, the eggs are terribly tasteless, the fruits are unripe, the coffee is instant. There are a lot of Indian dishes with spices for lunch and dinner, which is not for everyone. For example, I don't eat fish and for me the big problem was the lack of chicken or meat on the menu, I had to eat a terrible cutlet, which was intended for assembling burgers. The only outlet was mashed potatoes and ice cream. We didn't eat any special seafood delicacies. Regarding the service: from 8 a.m., cleaners start walking around the rooms, waking up the guests at the same time. Cocktails are prepared in different ways at different bars. 4. There is little chlorine in the pools, which is a plus. I was upset that there are no tables near the chaise lounges. You also have to carry drinks yourself from the nearest bar. The disappointment was caused by the fact that there are no snacks, chips or ice cream in constant access, you have to wait for lunch or dinner. We arrived at the ocean, but we could not enter it without injury, we were turned over, dragged along the sand and as a result: an injury to the cornea of the eye. 5. The shops at the hotel are rich in souvenirs, which are much cheaper and better in quality than in Bentota 6.If you want to get to Bentota or you need excursions, I want to recommend a man named Amila +94(76)9093144. Preface: I am an adequate person, I have flown around the world, I have seen from good 3* hotels to 4*5* (Cuba, Thai, Maldives resort, Dubai, Turkey, Egypt). I'll go through the important things in order. __population We arrived at the hotel at 12-something, checked in from 15:00. After waiting for almost 3 hours, I find a standard with a view of the barn of a nearby hotel (seriously, it's him in the photo). The porter was informed that we would change the number, he looked at the numbers and laughed loudly (with obvious understanding of the case). We heard about the replacement at the reception: Sorry, there are no seats, full reservation. They apologized with a hint that they would have to be patient. "SUFFER" for the first time in my life, I heard this in RIO 5* 😡 (I've been flying for several years). Keeping her composure, she asked for an upgrade with an additional payment. I was given: a family room + $ 100 per day. Well, where do we need them for 2 people... Then they said that even with a sea view (+ $ 45 per day) there are no rooms. But our unhappy faces and insistence on changing the view of the barn did their job. After 3 minutes, miraculously, they found 1 room with a sea view. Naturally, we laid out the money. __number If there are fans of smoking on the balcony in the neighboring rooms, then a relatively light smell of tobacco will also be available in your room, naturally with the balcony door closed (I know from personal experience). Clean and spacious, but audible... It feels like the walls are made of cardboard, you can hear everything! Music before going to bed is a good thing, but it plays almost the same for 5 days and you can hear every word of the song right in bed (5th floor, central building, direct sea view, room 7054). Although they said the room was quiet at the reception! There were no bathrobes and slippers in the room. Soap in the bathroom as a household... And shampoos with candeias are given every other time, of mediocre quality :( I didn't see any animals in my room. __Eda The menu is very Europeanized, varied, but bland (almost everyone does not get enough). Even the usual curry (on coconut) manages to cook delicious, but not acutely. There is always fish (a couple of species), chicken, meat (beef-often, goose-3 times, lamb 2 times, lamb meat), seafood exactly every day (shrimp- a lot and often, squid- a lot and often, there were also mussels, small crabs). You will always find something to feed the children. There is national food, but few and not its most interesting options. __Fruits It was very frustrating Unripe: watermelons (water), medium papaya, pineapples (take with a yellow middle), wooden guava :( It's not the season, I know, BUT even I know how to make ripe ones from unripe guava or pineapple in 2 days. I need paper, a couple of ripe bananas, a dry and warm place :) __sweet Cakes and pies are not tasty at all. Like in Egyptian/Turkish Trojans, no better. For that, the chocolate fountain is available 😂 _Lunch box (for an early excursion). 1 pack of cookies, 1 apple, 1 orange, 1 bottle of 0.5 water and 1 tiny pack of the sharpest chips. People do not slow down, take sandwiches and cupcakes at the night snack bar (open until 7:00-6:50 in the morning). Breakfast in the cafe on the tour costs 10-15 $. _More It was on the beach of the hotel that we were for 6 days. The red flag hung 4 of them (but we swam carefully). There are few people, the sea is always muddy due to the large amount of sand, the waves are very strong and cover your head. Everything will be in the sand after swimming! The waves often hit hard, sometimes knocking you off your feet, which is traumatic even for a healthy person. Now it's a + for me, because it's interactive :) I definitely wouldn't go to this beach with my children. I really do not recommend it to people with a sore back and sissies. _Pools and animations Excellent basques, spacious, clean, with bleach, but I advise fans! The animation is great, both for the bass player and in the evening :) _There is no night traffic outside the hotel, Akhungale is a rather poor village, a quiet bridge. __Give and gifts to your family Prices in the hotel store or in outdoor tents are much more pleasant than at the airport (exactly 2-3 times cheaper). Even the cheapest magnet here is $ 1, at the airport it costs from $ 3. Tea at the airport from $ 19 per 500 g, exactly the same tea is sold on the marketplaces of the Russian Federation, cheaper. The general conclusion is that this is a normal place for Sri, but I will not return to this hotel anymore :)

One of the last 18+ with a bar. The quality of the cocktails depends on the bartender. The cocktail list is standard, but you can ask to make your own from the available ingredients.

Don't wait for red fish here, for example, they don't give it in principle. In general, the food is not bad enough, especially if you are a fan of fast food. You will find here dumplings, and local fish, and pasta, pork, beef, chicken, squid and all this in 2-3 types, soups are different every day. For 10 days of rest, the kitchen has changed slightly, but if you have a fantasy, you can combine it. The hotel is essentially new, fresh modern renovation, air conditioners work well, high-quality cleaning every day. The service at the hotel is very attentive, especially if you write out small bonuses, then you fall at the table and they will definitely come to you and bring everything you order. Cocktails are tastier than in the Turkish Rixos-type fives, I recommend. Alcohol is only local, it is poured generously and in general it is not disgusting, but rather pleasant. The territory is not large at the hotel, there is also nowhere to go outside the hotel. The nearest casino is 2 hours away, it's big, I advise Bally's, a lot of different games and a lot of people, you can hang out there for a day, a buffet inside, free alcohol, nuts, fruits. The nearest beach with turtles is about 35 minutes by car to Hikkaduwa, there is a tourist area, find almost everything you need. If you smoke, I advise you to stock up on cigarettes / sticks. The price of good cigarettes is almost 1000 rubles of the Russian Federation, I didn't even find sticks and they write that they are twice as expensive. And finally, I will say: the locals are not used to tourists yet and they behave wildly at the hotel, they stick around, they go with you if you don't ask, they try to give advice and impose their services at a price at least 2 times more expensive than they cost. Feel free to bargain for tuk-tuks and excursions. For example, it takes 2 minutes to get to the nearest Lagoon (there are almost no waves) and the price is not $ 3, but a maximum of 1. A person who calls himself Anatoly stood out especially, he is an impudent liar, I do not recommend interacting with him. Well, on the ocean, the waves are always big, but if you swim a little for them there is not deep yet and you can safely swing on them, don't believe those who say that it is impossible to swim. Our company swam in the ocean 3-4 times a day.
