A wonderful hotel in sunny Gagra. Very interesting tours, good food, heated outdoor pools and a small spa. There is a medical base, baths are just a delight. The staff is very friendly, they help to solve all issues and always meet you halfway.

We had a family vacation from August 26th to September 1st, 2023.
The advantages are friendly staff, a new hotel, but construction will still go on until 2025).
Cons: the extractor hood in the bathroom is not put into operation in the room. The restaurant is located in another building and the toilet in this building is paid (although after numerous questions they indignantly said that the hotel guests use it for free). The food in the restaurant is very meager and monotonous (what was for breakfast is shifted to lunch and dinner). 20 minutes before the end of lunch, they can start to clean up the food and bring nothing to those who came to eat for the first time.
At the entrance to the "restaurant", the smell of acid hits the nose. It feels like chefs are giving a second life to products that are not the first freshness.
The scourge of this period for many was gastroenteritis (rotavirus infections), which affected both children and adults.
Tip: weigh the pros and cons 1000 times before going to Abkhazia and, in particular, to the Alex Hotel. The stated 4 🔯 are here only on paper and on the hotel sign.
And another thing: when you or your child feels bad and accidentally get vomit on the bed, wash it yourself. Otherwise, you will be charged for an additional fee. laundry. And they didn't care that the cause of the disease was their lack of proper sanitation and unsanitary conditions, for which we, vacationers, should make claims against them.
Prices on the market, at the pharmacy and in stores are very high and often the seller takes them from the ceiling, since there are no price tags. They cheat the buyer by one or two times. Be careful if you don't want your vacation to be overshadowed!

We rested at the hotel in September. I went to the hotel to try all the pros and cons of the hotel for myself, since I am a travel agent and it is important to me what I offer to the tourist.

- noise from the generator! this is terrible! it rumbles day and night, the balcony was not opened and I slept with earplugs.
- the hotel is 4 stars, and in the bathroom there is only one dispenser with shower gel and that's it! Very strange
- strange rules! for example, there is wine in the restaurant, but no glasses. when I asked for a glass, I was told that we do not have a "Swedish line". Strange! Let me remind you. the hotel positions itself as a 4-star hotel!
The Hemingway restaurant, where the guests' meals take place, has panoramic windows overlooking the sea, the view is fantastic! this view is covered with tulle, when I pushed the tulle aside to enjoy the view over a cup of coffee, an aunt came, pulled the curtain and said that it was NOT ALLOWED!
- the toilet in the restaurant did not work, and something always flowed and smelled next to the rest from the sewer manhole.
- COST! it's not worth the money we paid! For this money, there are much better alternatives.
So, I will never return to this hotel and I can't recommend it now!

We stopped at this hotel on 06/03/24, by phone, when booking a room, the administrator offered two room options (mountain view and sea view), with the possibility to change the view if something does not suit. Upon arrival, we saw that we had a view not only of the mountains, but also of the construction site, garbage and rusty roofs. The hotel is a very pleasant place, on the border of Old and New Gagra. But, as always, there are nuances. The territory is tiny, very green, like a botanical mini-garden. Yes, the size of the territory is not particularly important - access directly to the beach. The beach is well-groomed, two specially trained menacing-looking, but polite mountaineers keep order, there is a place for smokers at the entrance, but they do not smoke on the beach itself, it's nice. There are a lot of sun beds and umbrellas, there is enough for everyone, it is not necessary to borrow, strangers from sun beds are politely asked to go out, or sunbathe on a towel on pebbles. The food at the Hemingway restaurant is right next door, it's decent, not Greece, of course, but not Egyptian compost either. It's delicious and quite varied, it's a sin to complain. There are two saltwater pools, and the third is small, rather a font - in the spa area. The rooms are decent, no damage was noticed, cleaning every day, the maids are smart. The pillows, however, are terrible, brick by brick, they saved money. Rooms on all four sides, if you're lucky - either the sea, or the mountains, or the neighboring building, or the street. Wi-Fi is so-so, it often does not pull, it is better to take a local 10mb SIM card. There is one minus, but the general one is rotavirus, which is slightly less than universal. If you drink antiviral drugs the day before, you will not suffer much, for a day or two. Well, chacha helps, of course, all the time. They say there is also Coca-Cola, but it is difficult to find, and Pepsi is not in the cash register. Well, you must bring a polysorb with you. The sea smells and is cloudy, the stinky rivers are 100-200 meters on each side. There are slightly flooded breakwaters in the sea not far from the shore, it's better not to swim in a storm, maybe. There is a passage in the line of breakwaters, marked with a sign, behind the breakwaters the depth is immediately 5 meters. Gagra itself is a pleasant place, there is where to go and where to sit, a lot of cafes, shops and entertainment for every taste. In the Old Gagra they like live music more, in the New One they are noisier and more lively.

The food at the hotel is good. The rooms are clean, daily cleaning. There is a bowling alley. And of course nature!!! I recommend it for the new year.

Good afternoon, everyone! We were in Alex from June 11 to 23, 2023. The impression is twofold. The hotel is well maintained, especially the grounds. The gardener was simply admired! I'm working all the time, but it's worth it!
There are two girls at the reception, everything is carefully arranged, but they are immediately frozen for any requests:
1. - Our TV is not working
- Today is Friday, the master will be on Monday;
2. - Please close the balcony, we have a small child, very large gaps between the crossbars.

Very fast and thorough table cleaning. Excellent work of the hall staff!
The rooms are cleaned perfectly. When changing bed linen, they charge 200 rubles per unit for stains (juice was spilled).
The SPA is just great!!!
The head physician discussed the problems, advised the procedures.
Hammam, massage, wraps, baths, peeling, cosmetology - everywhere there is absolute professionalism and result!!!
The rest turned out to be successful: the sea was 21 degrees, everyone was swimming, the weather was 27 degrees. It rained heavily twice, but all at night.

Now we have come for breakfast- all the seats are occupied, we are waiting for the table to be vacated. Breakfast itself takes only an hour and a half. The food is not very tasty, the choice is meager. The toilet in the lobby is open from 9 a.m., i.e. you came for breakfast, but there is nowhere to wash your hands. In general, this level of service is familiar to Abkhazia. One of the advantages is the proximity of the sea and more or less decent rooms. Not all staff are friendly.

The hotel itself is good: the sea is nearby, at hand, 2 steep view pools, a cozy restaurant with a view, 10 minutes on foot to the central embankment, polite staff, a tour desk right in the hotel on the 1st floor.
But:
- the food is not tasty at all, the choice is small. I'm not picky, but it's really sad here.
- we caught rotovirus on the second day of rest, did not sleep at night, it was terribly bad. Then for 2 days I don't really want to think about food anymore.
- we wrote below about ants in the room, they really are in the toilet / bathroom, small, but it's unpleasant.
The bonus is that the hotel has a 24-hour doctor and if you feel sick, they can give you an injection for vomiting, after which you will at least want to live))
If it weren't for poisoning and a little more cleanliness, there would be no price, the place is very beautiful. But these few disadvantages specifically spoil the rest.

A lot of people are sick, both children and adults. And it won't make you sick for a day or two. In our case, everyone was sick for 10 days out of 11. Fever, vomiting, diarrhea. We rested from 27.10 to 5.11. I read a lot about rotovirus in this hotel, BUT I could not even think that it would affect us (and ALL vacationers, without exception) almost in November! All the vacationers had one problem: nausea, vomiting, diarrhea. There were no people in the pool, in the bathhouse. Everyone in the rooms "hugged" with toilets. I had all the symptoms gone in a day, my daughter was in her arms (the hospital is a 5-minute walk away) carried to the hospital to do the system.
The rest is ruined. There is no desire to return.
And in general, it is not a bad hotel. Nice room, well-groomed territory, 2 clean outdoor pools, sauna + indoor pool. The sea is just around the corner.

We checked into the room (we waited at the reception for 30 minutes), no one will help in any way in the sense of things, drag everything yourself! We booked in the 1st building, settled in the 2nd. The shower leaked into the room, the floor is wet. They didn't even offer to help carry things. They moved half a day to another building. Extortion of money is everywhere. A paid dinner for 700 rubles per person: this is pasta with 2 small cutlets, just terrible. Moving to another room is generally a separate story

Well... there was a desire to return to Alex after 10 years and I returned. I expected to see improvements, but I saw only one deterioration.
Hospitality service? They greet visitors only in the dining room, everyone else just doesn't notice.
Rooms - for 10 years they have not become better, that's for sure, they have not even done basic cosmetic repairs.
The dining room is very good for a dining room level, but not a buffet restaurant.
The restaurant - menu is shorter, the working hours are from 10 to 00, but at the same time they can close at 20-30, because there are no visitors! But where would they come from with such an approach. I asked to cook American - they refused, because the bartender left, and the waiter does not know how to cook with a carob coffee machine, but can only make coffee in an oriental way. According to the bar card, you should not order, but immediately ask what to eat from drinks and then make a decision to drink or not to drink.
From the good - pools with bleach (and this is a huge plus so as not to catch rotavirus), good weather and sun.

I will not go to this hotel anymore. The food is one different at the end of July, only apples and apricots from fruits. Soups are all meat-free. I have a request to the hotel administration: please make a horizontal bar and bars on the territory of the hotel under a canopy (in case of rain), somewhere in a corner, so that vacationers can pull up and do push-ups by September 2023. A pleasant impression. The good standard rooms are spacious, the linen is clean, the air conditioning is working, there is a refrigerator, a hair dryer, hand soap, gel in the shower. There is a kettle, cups, no tea itself, sugar, spoons... They give you a beach towel. The food is delicious, there was chicken, pollock fish, navaga, pork meat, really tough... there are a lot of vegetables, few sweets and fruits. For lunch, wine in a decanter at the distribution counter. For breakfast, omelette, sausages, delicious casserole, pancakes. There is a children's menu and a children's menu. the chairs in the dining room, the children are adults, I did not appreciate the menu... The beach is common for Abkhazia. The swimming area is fenced off, which prevents riding bikes with bananas where people swim. On the city beach, they race between people in the sea (There are 2 pools with warm water in the hotel, in the main building there is a sauna from 14 to 17 free of charge and an indoor cold pool with sun beds. I will not say about the procedures, the massage is expensive, I went to pressotherapy for 600 rubles. session. But the spa area looks decent. There are doctors, people walk... In the evening, you can sit in Alex's restaurant in the building itself. Also, from 11 to 12, oxygen cocktails are given apple juice with licorice. Bowling is free for 2 hours per room. We played when the weather turned bad... The most important disadvantage is rotovirus, they suffer from it there completely. Our whole company got sick too. There are decanters with chamomile for lunch and dinner. I don't understand what the reason is. Everything is very clean. We all washed our hands all the time. They didn't dive into the sea.

The most honest review guys! I want to tell you how our vacation went! I can't help but share my negative experience. Most likely, like all vacationers who read reviews of this hotel, they hoped that we would definitely get carried away and we would not get sick ! We rested for 2 weeks , stopped by , settled in quickly, there were no problems. We went to dinner, and the next day HELL broke loose!!!! Nausea, vomiting, terrible diarrhea, fever, etc. It's hard to say what's going on there, the locals said it's a virus in the air! Since June !!! Everyone who lived in this hotel went just no one, who, after an IV, someone lay in the room for 4/5 days and was sick, someone, even in the elevator, became ill after the dining room, and vomited right there!!!! You saw the shock with your own eyes!!! It's nothing to say! There are no questions about the service, it was cleaned well. So, now about the buffet: the food is ordinary, the food is bad for that kind of money (I think the price tag is too high, and does not correspond to the status of the hotel! One more thing, on the way to the dining room, the sewer was flowing right near the entrance ! For 4 days it just flowed shit 😵💫A question? Where are the hotel managers looking? Why is this attitude towards hotel guests?! Apparently, no one cares....in general, as you know, I strongly do not recommend this hotel! Consider other options, do not spoil your vacation!

Excellent Internet in the new building, cleanliness in the rooms, boiling white bed linen. The water in the shower is slightly warm, the food in the dining room is very primitive, the chef needs to be changed, definitely. Everything is tasteless and cooked at random. Rotovirus is everywhere. The waiters are nice and very efficient, but why is there a queue in the dining room for 30 minutes!? Unclear. The dining room is very stuffy. The girls at the reception are friendly. I am adding a review: the queue in the dining room has become 5-10 minutes long. There is an ultrasound room, a professional doctor, a Thai masseuse, I recommend it. The boarding house is distinguished by its impeccable cleanliness! This is where all the advantages end. Please note: there are concrete slabs in the sea along the entire embankment 7 meters from the shore, swimming and even more so diving is very dangerous. they save the pools. I do not recommend it. We went in the first half of August 2023. The beach is located next to the sewage drain, and because of the concrete barriers 10 meters from the shore, all the dirt remains near the shore. Because of this, the whole family caught rotovirus. The management of the hotel does not follow anything. The laundry machine and the elevator broke down, the elevator was not repaired during the 10 days of vacation and there were no alternatives for washing. Terrible plumbing and dirty water. 1.5 liters of water for 2 people per day and a 2-course buffet - that's all the food in this hotel.
It is very difficult to have a good rest when a hotel cannot cover even basic needs for such money. Shame
