We had a rest on April 17-24, 2021. The impressions are the best. The hotel is modern, clean, well maintained. We lived in the second building. The rooms are almost new, the furniture and plumbing are in excellent condition. Well-maintained territory, two heated pools (the water is very warm despite the temperature outside of 12-14 degrees, we swam in the morning and evening-very comfortable). The bathrobes that were in the rooms helped a lot - I threw them into the pool or sauna. The food was only breakfast, everything was pretty good - porridge, sausages, omelette, cottage cheese, casseroles, etc. In general, everything was enough. I give the hotel a solid European 4 * and I will definitely return there again, because I consider it one of the best in Gagra.

The food is very tasteless, especially breakfast and dinner. For lunch, though, of course, without frills, but you can choose something edible. Everything seems to be presented, but either they save on products, or the chef / team of chefs are unprofessional. Room and cleaning without complaints, a bottle of water in the room every day. Animation is not Turkey, of course, but in general it will do for a child of 7 years old. But it's not worth taking excursions at the hotel, we took an excursion to New Athos, they said a bus of 20 people, in the end 46! Rotovirus is in full bloom in Abkhazia. How we did not protect ourselves from him, did not eat anywhere, did not drink anything, but still all 5 days in bed. In general, it didn't go well for us, they barely took our feet away.

I had a family vacation at the end of June 2022. The food is not tasty, especially the meat. Always dry. The cook has a huge disadvantage and his team. Room cleaning, if you can call it that,🙄walk through the middle with a vacuum cleaner. There was dirt under the bed and under the bedside table, and not ours. My advice is to remove the carpets. The staff does not clean the palace well. It would be better to walk white on the floor. Dogs should be dispersed from the territory. The beach is like a beach, normal. Although nearby, under the stairs, the dirt is terrible. Rotten food and bottles. I understand that all tourists are pigs, but we need to clean up. Unfortunately, there is no embankment in front of the hotel. It is necessary to walk a decent distance to the embankment, it is not very convenient with a child.

It's really gorgeous, great rooms, good cuisine, two pools. It's a beautiful place. We liked it.
I support all positive feedback!!!
There will be no photos, there are so many of them.
But on the second day we received rotavirus and that's it, we had only 5 days in this place, 3 of them passed by. Almost by, sometimes it got good, we reached the sea.
Everyone was sick, we, our neighbors, our neighbors' neighbors, walking down the corridor you could just hear someone throwing up in the room. There is a medical center with an incoming doctor and an almost permanent nurse. The doctor immediately tells everyone in the corridor about the disease, and then individual receptions begin. On the second day there was a queue of 3 families, on the fifth of 10.

1. The room in the new building is good, everything is new, the conder works with a bang, the cleaning women are just great, they came in every day, changed towels, brought water, took away the garbage.
That's the end of the advantages.

In 4 days, we only got to the dining room, which calls itself the Hemingway restaurant, once to eat.It happened on the day of arrival, we got to lunch.By the way, I'll attach a photo of the time that is given to eating))it is 50 minutes on 3 floors for 2 buildings!!!.That is why after that we were never able to get to breakfast, lunch, or dinner.There was always no place, there was a queue in front of the doors of smoking people and when opening the door to the canteen (unfortunately, I can't think of any other way to call this place ...)The receptionist with red lips shouted at us :There are no seats!!!In general, we have lost hope, and of course I will submit a claim to the hotel to reimburse full board.
I will return to the story of the first and last lunch at this restaurant..Dirt on the tables, greasy trays, windows in cobwebs, window sills in lard and dust on it, a set with pepper and salt did not extend from the purchase itself.It's just frankly scary to eat there.

The beach...This is a separate sadness of this hotel.Broken bottles in the corners, a bar with draft beer and chips of the same kind.Large pebbles when entering, you can not even go without slippers..But the scariest thing is that you will not be able to feel the insanely beautiful sea, since 10 meters from the shore there are breakwaters along the entire perimeter of the beach, from which waves carry a pile of mud and jellyfish to the shore.Everything is just teeming with jellyfish and mud, branches and algae, lifted by waves from breakwaters.There is a 5-meter loophole between them, through which you can swim to clear water and swim in the turquoise sea.This is hardly suitable for families with children who swim near the shore.
Pools.Children swim in the saltwater pool.That says it all.Screams, screams, howls, crying, drooling, and even once it happened... but right into the water.On the first day, I swam in it, saw the dirty black drains through which the water in the pool is renewed and jumped out of it with horror.
The freshwater pool is decent, heated, but unfortunately it is not cleaned at all during the day, so wait for garbage at the sides by 3 p.m.Swimming is unpleasant.
We ate, as a result, we were next to the hotel in the Summer cafe, the food is very tasty, dinner with Apsny wine goes out at 3500 for two adults and one child.
I don't want to blame the cafe for the unsanitary conditions, but on the last day the whole family came down with vomiting and diarrhea, and the strongest.
The city itself is a dream of people who wanted to plunge into the Soviet era, dirt, devastation, sewage into the sea right on the beaches, a ruined embankment with wildly expensive cafes in the style of the 90s with live music.I can't sit still...

The sea is constantly agitated. I know the weather is such an idiot. The waves are very large. Even the hotel's beach is closed. The food is terrible. The time is very inconvenient for those who go to bed late and get up late. Breakfast until 9:50, dinner until 19:50. We didn't go to breakfast at all. We got up at 9:30-10 a.m. The food is monotonous all week. Mega diet. It feels like we were in a sanatorium for ulcers. Boiled chicken breast and rice are always served for dinner and lunch. The child on the second day said: I will not go there anymore, there is nothing to eat there. And, most importantly, although the hotel has nothing to do with it, rotavirus is spiteful!!! I'm sick of everything! Even at the reception, upon arrival, they warn about this. There's no one in the pool! We swam alone. Everything in the rooms is in order! We wanted to stay for 2 nights/ 2 rooms (February), found a hotel on a global aggregator site. We decided to book directly as we were passing through, but the administrator refused to place the price of the site and called the price much higher. When asked why the price is higher than through an intermediary, the answer was "these are your problems." We didn't book at all, we went to another hotel. The reception's attitude towards the guests is terrible, they talked rudely, refused to go to the meeting.

Well, at least the sea. In the immediate vicinity of the shore belonging to the hotel, two (!) fetid sewage streams flow right along the beach. And there are plenty of them in Gagra. And this is not to mention the fact that there have never (!) been sewage treatment plants in the city, and all discharges go only to the sea. In general, the latter is terribly dirty and smells not of the sea, but of sewage... I have always been struck by the piggishness of many fellow citizens who cluster just in the places where such streams flow, and then in the comments praising the sea and beaches... However, they may be blind and have no sense of smell). Look, at least, at the images from Space of the Gagra coast from the well-known Internet program - everything will become clear. Conclusion? The tourism industry of Abkhazia and Russia does not care about the health of our citizens, the main thing is to cut down the dough in the season...

We had a rest on October 3-14, 2020. The hotel exceeded all expectations. We were waiting for something post-Soviet. In fact, it is an excellent hotel for Abkhazia. Everything is very clean (room , grounds, dining room, the hotel itself). All staff are polite and not intrusive. The cleaning is excellent every day, towels were changed every day. You don't have to ask for anything. In the room, bathrobes, slippers, umbrella , shoe spoon , TV , air conditioning, kettle, single-use dishes, corkscrew, hair dryer - everything works. There is an iron and ironing board on the floor. The beach is large, very close, there are enough sun beds and in good condition, they will be put wherever you ask. One small minus - a free sauna for 30 minutes is very little. My assessment is a great hotel for that kind of money. I recommend.

I've never written reviews at all! Well, it's boiling over here! The beautiful picture of the hotel hides rotovirus, colds and just a spoiled vacation! I'm sorry, as it is, almost everyone has diarrhea and vomiting! And if you don't finish healing, everything starts all over again! Mows down both children and adults! I'm especially sorry for the children! We had to give the child an IV drip! And many people are prescribed ivs! Well, in justification of the hotel, I want to say that it is not only in Alex, but in the whole of Abkhazia it is similar!
The only thing I want to say is thank you to those who clean the rooms! They treated us with understanding, changed the bed when necessary, cleaned when asked! They poured it with us for our children!
At the Hemingway cafe, too, of course, atas! For such money, there is practically no variety! And we were afraid to eat there! We took porridge and crackers! Thank you, they thought in advance! Everyone comes with these bags of breadcrumbs and decoctions! Salads are all salty practically! Rice, buckwheat, potatoes! Korean carrots, cucumbers and tomatoes are salty and fresh! The only thing for breakfast is porridge, 2-3 kinds of cheese, eggs and an omelet! Sausage of 2 types! And so on the little things! Well, again, who is used to the food! I repeat, for such money, we could have made a more diverse menu!
I managed to get to the spa twice between the illnesses of the children! That's a good spa! Wrapping, massage, I liked everything! Hamam too! They're giving you tea! I managed to get a little distracted from the sores!
Two pools are good! One with sea water, the other with fresh water! On the first day, the children took a swim!
A very good pediatrician! Thanks to her for sending us to the IV on time and it became easier for the child! We were punished in a private center! There's a children's hospital right next door, well, it's just awful!
The beach is private, pebbly, the hotel sells Shoes to make it easier to leave!
We did not get on any tour because of the illnesses of both our children and ours! Although we have been here for 21 days!

Cons- plumbing (the toilet works very poorly, the faucets are old, the towel rail is rusty), a pool bar where you can't wait for a waiter, there is no coffee machine in the Hemingway restaurant.
Well, the biggest disadvantage is rotovirus infection, which affects all hotel guests. Despite rinsing our mouths after bathing and eating exclusively at the hotel, the whole family got sick, and we were seriously ill. Therefore, we do not plan to visit the hotel anymore.

We had a rest in July 2022 with a large company (12 people) with children of different ages - vouchers were paid 100%, full board, rooms with mountain views. What I want to say is a disgusting place, a completely ruined vacation and wasted money!!! the price and quality do not match, the stated 4 stars are a maximum of 2 (due to new rooms and repairs - and this is the only plus of this institution)!
The impression was spoiled already upon check-in, when they refused to check us in, demanding to make a deposit of 3,000 rubles per room (this condition was not prescribed anywhere before and was not voiced).
The representative of the hotel, Lilia Albertovna, behaved extremely rudely, explaining this by the internal rules of the hotel (money is taken for possible damage to property????) - OK, take it, but you need to warn about this at the stage of buying a ticket from a tour operator!
Food: The Hemingway restaurant is an ordinary dirty dining room, with disgusting food, what was not eaten for lunch is served for dinner. The choice of dishes is meager, and for breakfast, lunch and dinner there are local pickles.... the food is almost all spicy, and it was extremely difficult to feed the children.
Meal time - max. 1 hour 30 minutes, then the food is cleaned and at the stated dinner time from 18.00 to 20.00, it is impossible to eat after 19.20!!!!
From the rooms with mountain views, the set includes a view of the slums and the construction site, as well as endless noise from the road, construction, repair work, and at night music from There is a restaurant nearby.
The beach: everything is fun here too - sun beds are taken out at the request of vacationers, umbrellas cannot be touched themselves, only an employee has the right to open them if he deems it possible, behaves rudely, does not allow using umbrellas in windy weather.
The beach at the hotel has its own, BUT!... everyone can also lie down on it for money, which the "caretaker" of the beach is happy to collect, respectively, there were not always enough adequate places during the day for everyone.
Well, the cherry on the cake is an intestinal infection that absolutely everyone in this hotel suffers from!!! Moreover, the infection, including in the restaurant (unwashed dishes, water of unknown quality, etc.), we had children who did not swim in the sea!!! During our stay, we swam in the sea 1 time, as we were endlessly ill!
The territory of the hotel is small, there is little space by the pools.
The city itself is dirty and unkempt, the locals are not particularly friendly, taxi drivers cheat, you agree on one price, they bring you to your destination - they voice another.
The nature is beautiful, but against the general background of unkemptness and garbage, the impression is depressing...

I had a rest in Abkhazia from August 8 to 24 at the Joekvara hotel.My friends advised me to visit the Spa center of the Alex Beach hotel (I regret that I did not do this at the very beginning of my vacation).
